I’ll say this.. Southerners are WAY different than the Northernerners.

Democrats in Georgia run on law and order and even immigration enforcement.  They don’t touch the trans issue.

The Democrat Mayor of Atlanta was running campaign ads like he was Trump.

The conservatives are either MAGA or Rubio types and the liberals are reigned in by Bible believing Black Democrats.

The most right wing people I know are New York/New Jersey Italians, but they’re drowned out by a rabidly progressive strain of politics due to who’s leaving the North and what they’re being replaced with.

“Politics are downstream from Culture”

I find it incredibly hard to believe a jury in the South would’ve looked at that evidence and been 11-1 the way the Massachusetts jury was.   Maybe it’s 10-2 the other way and it’s still a mistrial but where a case is tried could not be more relevant than now.

yah no shite you guys are different.

You guys are the home of the Klan, rounding people up without due process has been your thing for centuries

He jokes about affordability while people can't make ends meet.  I was talking to a couple in a doctor's office today.  iIt's a specialist referral area 50 miles from me and 30 miles from the couple.  They were complaining about the gas to get there.  They looked like typical rural trump voters around here.  I think these are people fed up with inflation.  If not, they should be since their standard of living is dropping every day that trump remains.  Nice folks tho.  I didn't dare bring up politics.

clever.  but not a good thing for a faithful trumper.

Are you trying to go down the Grandpa Simpson route? just tell unrelated stories until people realize you are senile.

Such an ignorant thing to say.

For all the history of the South, they’ve come a long way.

The Northeast, outside NYC, has far less harmony and integration of whites and blacks than the current South.

You're arguing jury verdicts by regional stereotype now.

A Florida jury found Morris Reynolds not guilty by reason of insanity after he killed his wife.

Texas juries did the same with Andrea Yates and Deanna Laney after they killed their children.

Louisiana's Supreme Court upheld the reversal of Brian Peters' murder conviction because the evidence established insanity.

So apparently Southern juries do exactly what Massachusetts juries do: look at the evidence and sometimes disagree about whether someone was legally insane.

“I just can't imagine Southerners voting that way” isn't legal analysis. FEELINGS observed.

Thank you for bringing some common sense

Absolutely where this trial is taking place is the biggest Factor

Well actually Virginia pleading Not guilty by Insanity extremely rigorous

Successful insanity acquittals are an extreme rarity in the The Current State of the Insanity Defense in Virginia legal system.

Strict Legal Standard: Virginia uses a strict combination of the M'Naghten rule and the "irresistible impulse" test

She doesn't pass that she would have been convicted.. Texas would have convicted her too

A state like New York might have found her Not guilty by insanity... Like Massachusetts probably will

That's the point where you get the trial means more.. that is absolutely the truth

This trial will have different verdicts in different states showing the justice system is very uneven

I have to be clear here that in Massachusetts once the defense rested its case on Not guilty by Insanity the burden shifts to the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was criminally responsible.

In Virginia it would have been on the defense to prove it beyond A reasonable doubt within their guidelines which would not have happened... That is a massive distinction and one favors the prosecution and one favors the defense

It is strictly a state by state thing now determining if you are free or not...

A woman in Florida just got to use stand her ground for shooting a man in the parking lot who was intimidating her without any violence... A lot of states she would have been charged with murder

Most states you can't shoot somebody for verbal words and feeling scared.. Florida says hold my beer.. you have the right to defend yourself

Most states you need to meet violence with appropriate violence

Florida let Casey Anthony go… maybe sit this one out

georgia is not monolithic.  Might have been you that said Atlanta is different.  It is.  Northern Georgia (MTG's region and surrounding) is as redneck as anywhere.  Buckhead is progressive.  Not a coincidence that household earnings are much higher in Buckhead.    So, yes, politics are downstream from culture.  And your 2 senators are true progressives.  Blue dog dems are nearly extinct while their old south culture dwindles.

SETTING WOMEN’S RIGHTS BACK 200 YEARS:

How Some Female Lindsay Clancy Jurors Reacted to the Mistrial Declaration. It’s Not Shocking.

Lindsay Clancy wasn’t convicted of murdering her three kids. At least not yet. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz had better refile the charges, Clancy’s mental health be damned. Judge William Sullivan finally declared a mistrial today after a week of jury deliberations, during which one juror, a patriot, was dead set on convicting Clancy. It was an 11-1 split in favor of a not-guilty verdict.

Legal experts predicted a deadlocked jury, given the gravity of the case. Some jurors wore pink, a color symbolizing support for Clancy. Hordes of women, virtually all white, turned out to support Clancy, once again showing this cohort is Western Civilization's greatest internal threat.

Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington tried to boot this juror, claiming he lied under oath, and criticized the judge for being too soft in his instructions. That’s not good enough to remove a juror. Before a mistrial was declared, the judge gave Reddington an hour to file an appeal with the state supreme court, which rejected it

“Setting women’s rights back 200 years” while calling women “Western Civilization’s greatest internal threat.”

You wrote the misogyny and the rebuttal in the same post. You fkn idiot.

Georgia has two progressive Senators because Georgia GOP is a clown show when it comes to GASEN.

Warnock would’ve lost to anybody not named Herschel Walker and his scandal a day campaign.

Ossoff throws bones to Georgia conservatives with rhetoric and the occasional farm bill, which is why he caught so much heat for going after Trump’s aide.  Completely out of character and to what has made him a heavy favorite over .. yet another .. disaster Georgia GOP Senate candidate.

Buckhead is not progressive in the northern sense.  I don’t know anyone here who is like that.  Like any urban area, it’s more Democrat but we we were literally locked and loaded to leave Atlanta until Kemp had to step in to save the city because 90% of its tax base is Buckhead.  The second Atlanta crime started creeping into Buckhead, its residents became purple MAGA.

We'll now wait for some in the media to turn the villain of this story into the holdout juror

and not the woman who murdered her three children.

Clancy's attorney is certainly trying to do that:

Georgia Democrats are typically Church-going Blacks, Rich urban/suburban Whites and Indians.

None of those 3 groups are very progressive on Social or Fiscal issues compared to Northern liberals who are very much progressive on Social and Fiscal issues.
