New report on Pats cheat

Pretty clever. Have the scoreboard show goalposts that are misaligned to opposing teams kicker. 
 

Data indicates that it worked.

Has anyone actually found this is illegal per NFL rules? I have no love for NE but how is this different that noise and a billion lights going off during kicks etc? 

 

Again if it is illegal all good hate on them, but if it isn't it just seems they found an advantage no one else went for.

i'm sure it's not illegal the same way it's not illegal to build your stadium so the opposing benches roast in the sun like they do in Miami

I just read that article! Important to note for those who haven’t: this is NOT cheating. No rule against it. Maybe it ought to be banned in the spirit of fair play, but at present it’s perfectly legal. 
 

Personally I’m of the mindset that this kind of legal “dirty pool” is totally fine. The difference between me and the Patriots is that I draw the line where the rules are; and they think the rules only matter if you get caught.

Yeah, it’s not a rule, but this reminds me of how major league baseball teams don’t allow fans to sit behind the pitcher and wear white since it would be such a huge disadvantage for the hitter.

It looks like it's actually giving him a target by placing a bright yellow line right in the middle of the goalposts.

I was reading about it too.  Got to give him credit for coming up with these ideas, or someone in their organization.  Maybe they had a department of cheating??

Kickers don't look at the video board..  so it honestly won't impact them 

 

It will just confuse the fans looking at it technically
