IDK. He clearly had a better relationship with McNair, and he's smart enough not to say anything caustic about a dead guy even if he was so inclined, but he still doesn't come off as a very empathetic person. His body language, even the way he navigates what he says about McNair, still gives me the impression that he's a fairly miserable human being.

 

When Netflix does the Untold Eddie George or Bud Adams story, do you think he'll be in the same chair dressed in the same clothes again? Netflix planning ahead and gettin' at the intel at once.

People act like players are failures if they bust in the NFL. Vince Young was an electric player and had an incredible career as Longhorn. He has PLENTY to be proud of and is a legend in Texas and the sport of American football in general.

I loved watching Vince in college.  He was incredible that last year at Texas. My mom went to Texas, so I usually watch a good amount of Texas games. So, I saw quite a few of them. 

 

I think like Jamarcus Russell and Johnny Football he just didn't have the life discipline needed to be a succesful NFL quarterback.  There were some flaws in his mechanics and accuracy, but the biggest thing I got out of it was discipline and work ethic lacking.  

 

This is one of the biggest reasons for Josh's development compared to Vince. Josh came into the pros knowing he had a lot to work on, and had the discipline and humility to improve. Vince had very similar skills to Josh but a completely different mentality to the NFL.

He was pretty weepy over McNair-- i think it really hit him.

 

Vince Young is a completely unsympathetic character.  There's nothing new in this documentary:  star college QB drafted 1st round  crashes and burns in the NFL due to his own stupidity and immaturity.  30 for 30 covered it well ("Broke"), then "Bust: the Ryan Leaf Story" and the Johnny Football doc is pretty recent.

 

What's a guy like Fisher supposed to feel bad about here? He didn't want Young to be drafted by Adams.  He no doubt saw what was coming: a not very bright guy who is lazy and figured he would skate in the NFL on his physical skills alone.  And that's exactly what Adams got.  Young's lack of effort and mental acuity was an insult to his team and coaching staff.  Blamed everyone else for his problems. His own Center (Mawae) said he was unprofessional and lazy.  But all of this is everyone else's fault, per Young and his people.  I has no idea why this film was made at this time--there's absolutely nothing controversial about his career.  He was totally forgotten.  The world was not begging for this story to be told...

That USC vs UT game was a top 3 for me (Flutie vs Bernie Hail Mary easily the best) watched live.  Young was insane that game.

That was the single greatest individual performance I can recall.  VY put that team on his back.  It was a great day to be a hater and watch that hyped up USC team blow it.  And for that, a shot of Louis XIII and some mozzarella stix on me if we ever cross paths, Vince.

Absolutely one of the best college football games I’ve ever seen. Didn’t think Vince Young would have over twice the amount of rushing yards than Reggie Bush.

I saw Vince Young floating around a hotel lazy river in Arizona with his girl at the time. Seemed like a true introvert. Not nasty to anyone who recognized him (and he's a big man!), just kind of private. I think that was just before his Bills stint. Didn't seem out of shape to me, but maybe Lazy River should have been his nickname.

I don’t think anyone has a hard time understanding that.  
We as Bills fans have seen our fair share of busts.

Flutie had 12 years in the NFL. The average NFL career lifespan is 3. And this was when people weren’t taking as many chances on non-prototypical 6’3+ QBs. Maybe he wasn’t great, but he definitely shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as Johnny Manziel.

Flutie was never was as hyped coming out of college as these 3 were, despite the Heisman.  Yet he had as about as many starts in the NFL as all 3 of them combined. His NFL career lasted 12 seasons, plus 8 in the CFL.  He doesn't belong in this group.

My wife and I just watched the one with Raygun. As it was ending I was like “that can’t be it. Where’s the cut to scraggly Jeff Fisher in his chair next to the window critiquing her performance and bemoaning breaking as an Olympic sport”

No, he wasn't a bust like the others. I just meant he was an all-time great college player, but not a great pro.

Won’t forget the game I was at watching when Vince scrambled for a 45 yard TD at the Ralph with like 15 seconds left in the first half 

 

he must have ran about 150 yards total across field - was amazing to see but hated it becuase it was against us at home
