Grass fields are replaced several times a season for teams that opt for that playing surface. It's had 3 games of getting ripped up on top of the practices and usage it's gotten since being installed. A switch to a fresh field after that is pretty common. 3 1 3 Quote

I don’t know a thing about grass but google says nfl teams with grass fields usually change out the grass during the bye week. Rich Stadium Original Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I would not be surprised if the league or union stepped in because of how bad the sod was and told the Bills to do something about it. That sod had been in close to a year, and it was still getting ripped up pretty bad. Other stadiums have had to replace their grass occasionally in the middle of the season, and even after just a few weeks its in better shape than this stadiums grass was after a year. Got to think somebody goofed somewhere...maybe they were so concerned about drainage and keeping the sod warm they neglected basic durability. Quote

Guessing their field setup is equipped to counter the fact grass starts going dormant round here in mid fall. Quote

GaryPinC Posted August 29 Posted August 29 It would make sense that they are on a much different turf care plan than your average yard. I find my yard takes a good 3 years to really interlock as a dense turf. I aerate every other year and fertilize/turf build regularly. Even doing badminton on it will flatten and strain it, let alone very large men exerting maximum force on it with spikes of different lengths. Quote
