ColoradoBills Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) I'll start a thread to stop these comments in the Cut Thread. I'll ask again. Do the Bills need to keep a FB? Did VanSumeren do enough to warrant a roster slot? I didn't pay enough attention to him this summer to have an educated guess. Edited August 29 by ColoradoBills 2 Quote

A great indicator of making a roster is how late do you play in game 3 and he was playing late. If he was a lock they would have just played Zylstra the whole game 1 Quote

So, if the O keeps 24. Do they go 10 OL or add another to RB/TE/WR? That is my main offense question I'm waiting to see. 1 Quote

And we'll carry 4 Tackles (as we always have). It's either Lundt or Broeker for the last spot. Adams is a guard who doesn't play tackle, but Lundt is a tackle who doesn't play tackle well enough to stay at tackle and was moved inside to guard where he looks like Manute Bol among the wideboys. Lundt is a lead-pipe lock to release in my book. Anderson can flex outside to get you through a game. 1 Quote

They were somewhat quick to drop the other FB a few weeks ago. I know Brady likes having a FB on the roster for a variety of reasons. He does a lot of different things with them presnap. I think he can slot in on some STs now that a lot of the backend of the roster guys will be gone today or tomorrow. I think he could be a valuable player. 1 Quote

Just don't know if Ben is the guy or they go with someone like Hawes fill that role. Like I said earlier, if not Ben than another RB/TE/WR might happen. Thanks for your input. TheyCallMeAndy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Hopefully Bell takes #1 (college number) with Hardman cut. 2 Quote

I think if we were going to see Hawes or someone take over the spot, they would have gotten in game snaps at the position. I didn't see any TEs (other than I think Zylstra) take FB snaps. And I don't think he makes it ahead of Ben. Quote

ColoradoBills Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 @BuffaloBillyG concerning your Hardman comment in the other thread. I'd rather they go with someone like Pettis (who took a lot of PR snaps this summer) over Hardman for the Practice Squad. 1 1 Quote

I still say the best PR on our roster would be Keon Coleman who was awesome in that role in college. But I think his role on offense is planned to be too big to risk on PR. Quote

It's good to know he is available to fill that role if needed. Mercole Hardman filling a slot to return punts would have been a waste. They can make it work with the personnel they have. 1 Quote

I expect him to do well this season, but if he doesn't he may see reps back there at some point. I still think Hardman ends up on a PS. Either ours or another team looking for speedy depth. Quote

I think his drops Thursday sealed his fate. Sherfield is WR6. It's Maclin and Gosnell/Pettis to the PS IMO. 1 Quote

But that 9th O-Lineman spot is a tricky one and you've sold me 😝 Since I'm still getting replies and reacts on the other thread and there's now a dedicated thread - I'll move it over here. Final FINAL Prediction (barring unpredictable trades): QB: Allen, Allen RB: Cook, Davis, Johnson FB: VanSumeran WR: Moore, Shakir, Palmer, Coleman, Bell, Sherfield (Shavers - PUP) TE: Kincaid, Knox, Hawes OL: Dawkins, Anderson, McGovern, Torrence, Brown, Corbett, Cushenberry, Grable, Reed-Adams (Bowry - IR to Return) Edge: Chubb, Rousseau, Parker, Hoecht, Solomon DL: Oliver, Walker, Sanders, Gaines, Jackson, Carter (Durant - IR to Return) LB: Bernard, Williams, Elarms-Orr, Andreessen, Jenkins CB: Benford, Hairston, Alford, IGB, Hancock S: Gardner-Johnson, Bishop, Kilgore, Hamlin, Franklin ST: Bass, Doman, Ferguson 1 Quote
Rocky Landing Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I wonder: If we carry six WRs, if the #6, along with being a special teams guy, doesn't end up as an ipso facto place holder for another player that does not get talked about much-- Tyrell Shavers? He was acquired as an UDFA largely on his ST potential, and worked his way onto the roster as a decent 6'4" endzone target, and downfield blocker. And he is fairly beloved by the team. Currently on the Reserve/PUP list, I imagine the team has some plan for him? Quote

But the injury Shavers had and when he got it, he may not be back this season at all. 1 Quote
