Scott7975 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/bills/capaccio-steelers-at-bills-preseason-four-things-to-watch Excerpt - Quote Those final roster spots On an exclusive Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast, general manager Brandon Beane told Matt Bove and me that there are about "50-ish" spots on the roster they are pretty confident in right now. That would leave maybe three spots available. How do they determine who gets those? Beane said special teams will matter. How many phases of the game a player can play? But he also said you don’t want to sacrifice a player who will really help you at a position just for that, either. Watching the rotation at a few of these spots may give us some insight into what they ultimately do. Tyler Bass Beane also said that the reason they did not bring another kicker in this off-season was because they did not want to have competitions at both punter and kicker at training camp and reiterated his faith in Tyler Bass, who had a perfect 5-for-5 game last Saturday in Cleveland, including a 52 yard field goal. But with Bass still the only kicker on the roster, whatever chances the team has for kicks in the game will still go to him, and every time he steps on the field is an evaluation from both the organization and fans. Not liking the reasoning for not having competition at kicker. 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Things I’ll be looking for: 1. The Guard and Tackle rotation. I assume that the starters at Guard will be Adams and Corbett but maybe they slide Corbett to Center today to show teams his versatility for a possible trade. If Corbett is at Center that could swap some things around giving first team opportunities to Broeker and undrafted tackle Weatherspoon. Still all of these names will be worth keeping an eye on. 2. How much , if any, Ben VanSumeran plays. If he’s out there it could be an indicator he’s not a lock like most think. 3. Who is playing later into the game between Greg Gaines and DeWayne Carter 4. Will Jordan Hancock play at all? If he does , is it all Nickel or at Safety. If he’s a safety they could be prepping to cut one or both of Geno Stone and Damar Hamlin. Leonhard did kind of make an excuse for Stone this past week saying he’s been playing nicked up 2 3 Quote
rusty shackleford Posted August 27 Posted August 27 It's fairly breezy in WNY today. Feeling the wind confusion technology in real game atmosphere might be the biggest evaluation to look forward to during this preseason matchup. Quote
Rich Stadium Original Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Wind is a little gusty here this afternoon in Orchard Park. Forecast is for it to die down around game time. Im not going to the game tonight, but curious what the wind conditions will be like on the playing field if gusts continue. . 1 Quote

Winds will start dying off pretty quickly after the front passes through. They'll probably be calm for most of the game. Quote

Yeah I was just looking at the hourly forecast and saw that. Oh well, I guess we can look forward to the Gore Jr. vs. Wheeler battle for the 4th RB spot that won't exist. 1 Quote

I have it on good authority that the stadium was designed to prevent wind being an issue at field level Quote
jkeerie Posted August 27 Posted August 27 22 minutes ago, Don Otreply said: Agree, that sounds like a load of GM speak…, Actually it makes sense. The punter is the holder. So now if you have two different kickers and two different holders, you have to structure camp, scrimmages, and preseason games to account for all iterations. (What holder was with what kicker on this kick? How do we make sure that come gametime, each kicker has had a fair and equal shot with each holder etc.) Bass knows that his job is contingent on his continuing to make kicks post training camp. So, if he starts failing, likely Beane will have a short list of kickers to bring in. Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted August 27 Posted August 27 WGR going Hellebuck talk an hour before a bills pre game…a guy that isn’t even on their team, probably never will be and would make zero difference regardless. Thanks guys. Wonder why you lost the Bills broadcasts 1 Quote
