Dillenger4 Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I'm loving the vibe in Buffalo this preseason. New coaches, some new youthful players. We are the team to beat in the AFC. Brady was/is one of the top coaches in the NFL. He is highly regarded. This season will be a huge jump for the Bills towards a SB victory and I for one can't wait to watch it all. 4 Quote

We have a Wunderkind of our own, without all of the Sean McVay fawning, pomp, and circumstance. Just watch. Brady is a good offensive coach but comparing him to McVay is insulting to McVay. McVay is special. Not just football smart - real life genius smart. He can recall every play he has ever called. I watched a short film where someone would cite a random game from a previous year and McVay could recite it, perfectly. Example: The person would say Rams vs Cardinals, 3rd quarter, 2nd drive, 3rd down and 8 - what was the play call? And McVay would spit it out immediately. Over and over and over again. It was shocking. One of the questions was a time from before McVay was even a head coach, 10 years prior. The reporter asked him what his play-call was when he was a Washington assistant coach. Random week 7 game. 2nd and 7 on the TB 24 yard line. McVay immediately spit it out. That is savant level of memory. I'll be thrilled if Brady is half as good. 1 Quote

One does not just play one good game in the Champ game to get there. Odds are he isn't going to get over the hump this season. So if he doesn't, do you just want to fire a coach every season until you hit that lotto ticket or do you want to look and see if the guy is actually a good coach or not? 2 years is how long I’m willing to give. Josh Allen is 30. If you’re ever going to win one, you have 5 to 10 years to accomplish it. There is no time for growing pains. He wasn’t hired to learn on the job or to grow into it. There is an urgency that the Bills have never had. The last guy was here years too long. He too is a NFL HC. He would be a good hire for Arizona or Cleveland or someone like that. If Josh was 26 or 27 Brady would have a little longer leash. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Beane is on the hot seat now. Brady has 2 years (assuming Allen’s health). I don’t need to see a well run, disciplined or organized team. I’ve seen that. It is results and results only. The playoffs are the ONLY thing that I will judge him on. If the Bills go 17-0 and bounced in the divisional round, he should be coaching for his job in 2027. If the Bills go 10-7 and win the Super Bowl, he is the guy that I want coaching this team. I don’t care if he’s a good HC or not. I care if he’s a HC that can win the Super Bowl with this team. To be clear, I think Joe Brady is a step up from McDermott for this team. His beliefs are more in line with what I think they should be. He believes in what I believe in so I am good with him as the guy. I’ve loved what we have seen this preseason even if preseason doesn’t matter. My entire point is that none of that will matter until the playoffs. If he gets the same results, he will have the same fate, just much quicker. Edited August 25 by Kirby Jackson 1 1 Quote
NickelCity Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes, I feel better today. Other than his intro press conference and some goofy media appearances, I've been impressed. And like many I absolutely love his coaching hires. Just wish we had Kromer. Quote

My point is there are no “moral victories” for me. I don’t care about the signs of a good, or even bad, coach. None of that is moving me. I think if Brady is a great coach the Bills might win 14 games. I think if Brady is a bad coach they will win 10 or even 11. I don’t think it matters who coaches this team until the playoffs. Lots of guys can get them where they’ve been. He either takes them further in the next 2, max 3, years or someone else needs a turn. 1 Quote

My guess is Pegula gives the Beane/Brady combo three years. If things haven't improved at that point, then Beane is either gone or steps down as GM just to remain president of football ops. New GM comes in and most likely wants his own HC, so Brady is probably also gone. Let's hope it doesn't come to that, and the Bills can win a Super Bowl with Brady as the HC. 1 Quote

Homey D. Clown Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I'll be perfectly honest here. I was neither excited or disappointed. I was, however very hopeful he would be smart enough to bring in a better defensive mind, as i was fine with McDermott as a leader, but really loathed his defensive schemes. Quote

Nihilarian Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The 2026 Buffalo Bills are like a "box of chocolates" in that we just don't know what we're gonna get. Will we get the guy who helped LSU to a national championship as OC? Will we get the guy who helped QB Josh Allen win MVP? Or will we get the guy who was calling plays and setting up game plans last season, like the losses against the Patriots, Dolphins, Falcons, Texans, and Eagles? Some of those offensive game plans were incredibly lame, as in it looked like no game planning at all? That game against Miami in week 10, their entire secondary was injured, and Buffalo didn't score until the second half. Yeah, that's right: the 7-10 Miami Dolphins beat Buffalo 30-13. They were 3-7 at that time. Miami finished the 2025 season mid-20s in both offense and defense. The Buffalo drives went PUNT-DOWNS-PUNT-FUMBLE-PUNT-END of HALF-INTERCEPTION TD-FUMBLE-TD-PUNT. So many here seem to think that because we have Josh Allen at QB, it automatically means 10+ wins and the playoffs. Peeps seem to forget that when the Brian Daboll clone (Ken Dorsey) was calling the offensive plays in 2023, Buffalo was 6-6 at the bye week and about to lose the division to the 9-3 Miami Dolphins. So bad things can happen even with an elite QB. We just don't know if Joe Brady is going to be a good head coach. 1 Quote
Bray Wyatt Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I was INski on Udinski, and was a little underwhelmed with the Brady hire. My feelings are better than what they were when they first hired him Quote

ngbills Posted August 25 Posted August 25 This board and Bills fans like Brady. Non-Bills fans may or may not know squat about him. There are a ton of coaches that get the "highly regarded" label around the league. Brady has never been labeled as a McVay type and my guess is that if he was another teams head coach no one would be worried about him. Quote
Pete Posted August 25 Posted August 25 (edited) I feel better about Brady. What I’m more pumped about anything, besides Josh Allen on the Bills, is that we FINALLY GOT A #1 WR!!!!!!!!!!! like we have stated, over and over, season after season, get a #1 WR and Bills offense will be near unstoppable. It will open up for Shakir. For Dalton. For Cook. For Keon. Hallelujah!!! I think a lot of faith in Brady’s offense is that we added #1WR. His play calling has been much better, and it’s only preseason Edited August 25 by Pete Quote
Gregg Posted August 25 Posted August 25 If Leonhard can build a good defense that plays well in the big moments/games (playoffs especially) then the Bills have an excellent chance to win the Super Bowl. If he doesn't then it won't matter how well the offense plays. They will fail to reach the Super Bowl just like in previous seasons with McDermott. 1 Quote
