You could be right about this, but honestly, Josh absolutely feasts with guys who get open short and intermediate regularly. It has been the big issue with guys like gabe and keon (previously).

among all their other issues.

you know, like being bad.

Led in both passing and rushing yards. I don't see how he's not on the active roster Week 1. Does he get a game-day jersey?

Sal seems to think so, and he's generally pretty accurate with these types of things, and that was before last night's game.  I think he's one of these players, that the coaching staff is secretly excited about.  I think they see and know things, that the average fan or media member, isn't necessarily picking up on. I think he just needs to work on ball tracking drills, and he could become a serious triple threat.

I came here to say this.  He reminds me a lot of Diggs in his motion out there.  The way he catches with his hands, the routes he runs.  I’m not saying he’s going to be Diggs, because that’s insane.  But if you put 14 on him, I would have thought we brought him back for this game.

We can't say he is, or he'll be, but the Diggs vibes are certainly there.  Same type of frame and play style.  Now, what made Diggs Diggs, was his psycho I'm him mentality.  If we could get the work ethic, with a tiny bit less ego....we'll be in business.  Heck....what I'm saying, I'll take the full Psycho version, because at least we would get a good 3-4 years to fully morph.

The other thing I noticed, is how glowingly Leonard talks about him.  I'm sure BB asked Leonard what he thought about him pre-draft, and Leonard probably said something like....this kid can play, the pros won't be too big for him.

Definitely excited to see this kid progress.

I honestly would be shocked if he didnt get a jersey especially with the injuries

So he's a shoo in to be voted the teammate guys would least let their sister hang out with.

I once scored 5 TDs in a neighborhood sandlot game.

Maybe Skyler turns out to be a great pro.  But a nice performance in a meaningless preseason game against backups doesn't tell us much about his NFL worthiness.  The quality of the competition matters.

But I am rooting for the kid.

It was his first real outing.  He has not had an opportunity to do anything else YET.

I'm sure he would have outdone your 5 TDs on the sandlot.  Don't you agree.

I like Sherfield, Macklin, and Hardman more then the idea of Skyler Bell and whatever he is.

Ok Bell more than Hardman.

Agree about Bell over Hardman.  Hardman has been a real disappointment.  He was considerably better when playing for the Chiefs.

Bell was force fed the ball and looked solid not spectacular.. clearly that was the plan... I don't think he's got much ability to bring in the ball down field rn on NFL starters... But can work short intermediate stuff

I mean he's a rookie so he's got time to grow but I don't see the guy getting a lot of touches in regular season... Unless we get some wr injuries. He's going to be the fifth or sixth guy

I'm with @Allen2Moulds on this one. I think:

1) The Bills are excited about his potential and

2) Unlike "some coaches" I don't think Brady is afraid to play and promote young players who show progression.

I definitely think he'll end the season as at least our 4th WR.

Yes, Bell and Leon Hard were at Wisconsin at the same time and according to the broadcast (Tasker), it was more than just a casual, friendly relationship... they were described as being more like brothers and that Bell was like a member of Leon Hard's family.

There's absolutely no question that Leon Hard vouched for Bell or else Bell wouldn't be here.

I mean I think fourth would be best case

There's no way he's ahead of Moore Palmer or Shakir except due to injuries.. palmer was starting to play good before that hip drop and is experienced... and we definitely don't want him to be above keon is that would mean keon didn't improve

Shakir had like 15 or 20 catches his rookie year and I think there's probably 20-25 catches for Bell ...

We also have to feed Kincaid and Knox and our running backs in the passing game there's only x amount of targets

Right now he's the backup in the slot and again I don't think he could win outside downfield against starters right now.. somebody goes down outside he's not going to get the first call

He has  talent but he needs to develop some things which I think next year you will see a lot more of his capabilities

He looked good yesterday but he still didn't show the ability to win 20 yards downfield he showed he can be shakirs back up in the slot.. and in 4 wide play a role in some looks

That ability to win outside is going to take an off-season of focus and work.. he's going to be working out of the slot 98% of the time to be effective

This season, I think his snaps will be determined by Palmer and Keon.  I think both players are more effective downfield and better blockers.  If one (or both) of them get injured or aren’t getting it done, he’ll get his chance.  If keon and palmer play up to par, I think he’ll have 12-20 catches.

Runs like Diggs but as a player he kind of reminds me of John Brown

Kid needs to put on some muscle pretty bad. 6' 192lbs aint awful... that was combine weight, maybe they suck a bit of weight to run 40 faster?  So hopefully he bounces back, looks smallish.

His best chance to see significant time on the field is on the outside (not counting injuries).  I think hes got the chops w/ his routes, but short arms and strength are gunna be an issue vs physical press CBs.

Really its just "we'll see", wasnt my fav prospect at the time, felt risky to me, very boom or bust.  Liked what i saw last night, and i saw the vision from the draft... just not sure he's gunna be able to make the jump from MAAC to facing NFL Corners.  Then again, if he'd played like he did at UCONN, but in B10/SEC/ACC , he proli wouldnt have been avail, so I get the vision

He might have scored 20 TDs in my sandlot game!

And, sure, his performance yesterday was far more encouraging than if he had been invisible with no stat line.

But what's the old saying: 100 times bitten, twice shy?  As someone who's placed my hopes in rookies many times only to be disappointed, I've become Missouri.  Show me - in a real game.

And you might have to show me more than once.  Gabe Davis had me fooled for a while.

It's perspective, I guess.  I'm getting too old NOT to have hope in the rookies.  LOL.

I'd bet the over on the 20 TDs.  haha.

I am a believer in this kid and would disagree to a point with the comps to Diggs.

The physical and style comparison to Diggs and a few others are fair and understandable. But where he has the advantage and great opportunity to succeed is his maturity level and professionalism. I don’t see a diva. I see uber confidence and a potential leader that is willing to learn from and grow with Josh, Moore and Shakir and then be that presence long term. He also plays hard in game with an edge.

Also BTW, a better thrown ball and he would have had (approximately) a 40 yard TD reception on top of what he did.

yeah that was a REALLY bad throw...  bell would have to be 10 ft tall to get that one
