This makes me happy.

Eager to see how the kids do today.

Frank Gore Jr vs Ian Wheeler (vs Ty Johnson)?  I love Ty, but the thought of saving 2.5M if he’s banged up going into the season could be interesting if Gore and Wheeler continue to show out.  Pass protection could be the key to keeping him.  Neither are very good in that dept.

Kyle vs Shane- can Kyle build on a solid performance vs Carolina?

Bass-  ugh.

Jude Bowery vs Tylan Grable

Can Ar’maj Reed Adams earn a roster spot.  The kid played pretty well last week.

I just read an article that Wheeler has actually been pretty impressive during the joint practice with the Browns. Sounds like he is a pretty physical back and was knocking people on their asses.

Yeah man, he looks the part. Explosiveness with power.  Seems much more of a north south runner.  Haven’t seen much from his laterally.  Pass protection will likely play a part and I don’t think he did much in college. I don’t think he has much of a chance to make the 53, but he’s got some juice

Gore reminds me of a mini Fred Jackson with less ability.  What I loved about Fred was his ability to maximize every run with heart and determination.  Gore exemplifies that trait

I’ll always be team Ty and I didn’t think there was any chance of moving on from him but we’ve seen crazier things happen.

I used to really like Sal but every year it’s just more annoying to me. The guy has a job most of us would kill for. He can’t go 3 sentences without saying the word “interesting” It’s incredible that nobody has ever given him notes on that alone. He’s always taking about things that are so impossible to understand. It’s always a tone deaf reading of position battles or performances. I used to think he was possibly being censored by the old guard but now it’s gotta just be him. He is obsessed with special teams roles. 35 years ago it probably mattered. It barely does now.

The last couple years all I have really cared about on special teams is dont fumble the damn punt and dont give up a huge return.

Wheeler I think can be a good backup NFL back. He probably won’t make the team just because it’s easy to get RBs through waivers. The question is will they keep 2 with Gore and Wheeler or will Gore move on or will they let Ty Johnson go . I’d lean towards them keeping both on the PS

Most of the time I wish we didn’t even send a guy back to return a punt. Just take your chances and let it land where it lands. You never get big returns, you almost always are afraid of a fumble or injury and most of the time it’s a holding penalty anyway. Just stand there to prevent a fake or try and block every punt. I’ll take the ball where it stops

Same.  I’ve always been a Ty Johnson guy.  Last year wasn’t what I was hoping, I think he can rebound and make some clutch plays

Damn. I was hoping that was just some BS rumor. Prayers for Ed and family. So tragic. I hate hearing about kids. RIP.

Wow. Down 6 WRs... also I'm starting to get an uneasy feeling about Ty Johnson missing practice time.

Hence, Wheeler getting some burn is all that more important.
