Release all the Fullbacks

I'd rather keep an extra player at any position. Keep 4 TE or 6 WR. An extra DB. Pretty much any position would be of better use. 

Josh Allen is the short yardage RB. If you need an alternative, just put a lineman back there.

I will die on the hill that FB is underappreciated but if you have a vet option you like it's hardly going to break the bank

If they have use for a fullback and have a fullback that is roster worthy, then roster him. Not having one limits the offense, if just slightly.

VanSumeran would be the lead dog for sure but I don’t think he’s a lock. I do think the Bills will consider Gore, Wheeler, and Latu for that spot as well. 
 

He’s def the leader in the clubhouse but if they feel Latu and or Hawes can be an H back lead FB type player as well as STs then VanSumeran can still be out of a job

I see no value in keeping a FB. Use Hawes in the Gilliam role. Keep an extra RB or TE.

Gore Jr. and Wheeler both looked good Saturday. Rather keep either one of them over a dedicated FB these days.

If it's like how we've used one in previous seasons, particularly '25, I think it's more a matter of willing to save a (specific) spot for a good player.  Gilliam was typically only used a handful of plays/game on offense.  He was a MAJOR contributor on ST.  For the few plays that he was used on offense, minimal utility is lost if they instead use someone like Hawes, Latu or Gore instead.

I would go back to a 6th OL which they did well 2 years ago. I think that in those short yardage situations, with Hawes and a 6th OL, they are automatic anyways. So there may be a couple or 3 times a year where you can’t throw to that 3rd TE out of the formation but I’m not sure that it matters. I’d think it’s a 95% conversation rate in short yardage. You can still play 13 personnnel in other situations.

Knox is fine as a blocker, not elite but fine. Latu has surprisingly been solid as a run blocker as well granted against backups and UFL guys

I would rather keep a FB than a third RB.  Especially when the FB can also play a major role on ST.

 

There were numerous times where I noticed Sumeren on Sat.  FB make a difference with creating holes.

Only 11 teams put a traditional FB on the field in 2025 so it isn’t like it’s a necessity. It’s a matter of playing to your personnel. You shouldn’t cut a better football player (potentially Latu or Gore or Wheeler) to keep a traditional FB. That holds especially true when you can use Hawes in the tush push.

I'll agree, Latu could be a serious weapon with his height etc. The question is he going to do it here or elsewhere as others have eluded he is NFL roster ready.

Fair question. I am not sure he would make it back to the PS. He may. Not many guys get picked up after cutdown day even though we (and every other fan base) worries about that every year.
 

Latu is unique though. Teams are using more TEs. There is a need across the league and you can’t convince me that there are 100 (or whatever the number is) better NFL TEs. If he’s cut, there are teams out there that probably see him as an upgrade on their TE3.
