(PSA) Micah Hyde now on Buffalo Plus podcast weekly...

I think many of you enjoy this podcast with Mike Catalana, Jenna Cottrell, and Dan Fetes. Well, they scored a coup (IMO) by landing Micah for the season in a weekly (Wednesday) segment. On today's episode he shared his thoughts on preseason and some other stuff, and he confirmed what a lot of us thought -- some teams actually do scheme for preseason and when they do it completely throws off what you're trying to accomplish. He specifically cited the game at Pittsburgh 2 or 3 years ago...said the Steelers obviously gameplanned and the Bills hadn't even said the word "Pittsburgh" at all during camp. He said they went out there and were like "WTF?" and it completely skewed what they wanted to accomplish.

 

Micah's a Bill through and through...last week he shared a lot of insight as to what went down in his last season (PS) and the conversations he had with Beane and McDermott about whether he would play or not. Unfortunately they didn't ask him what he thought of McD getting canned but today he definitely implied something needed to change to get the Bills "over the hump."

 

The other thing I like about this podcast is that this trio are not beholden to the Bills so they'll say what they don't like (they all seem to dislike the Nickel City unis), but they totally downplayed the stadium hoopla and said they are going to check things out for themselves on Saturday.

I remember that game. The first team offense came out and had two three-and-outs, and Pittsburgh scored three first-half TDs. Everyone here was freaking out. The same thing happened last year with that preseason game in Chicago. I just found the post-game thread, but I think it's better not to post it.

Caught a little bit of the latest podcast and it's nice to get a players perspective. He also mentioned how much he hated pre season

Playing a dangerous contact sport in games that don’t count against guys that are fighting to make a roster can’t be a good proposition for veteran players.

Makes you think that if you can get some inside info on the teams who actually scheme and gameplan for preseason, it's a pretty good gambling opportunity...especially if you can get first half lines...

I think it's good if a preseason opponent gameplans and then has its way with the Bills.  The Bills need a little eye-opener.  Last year they lost three games to teams they should have beaten easily, and that cost them the AFCE.  I don't know how they could have lost those games other than arrogance and assuming the other team would just lie down.

Bumping this thread. I can’t say enough how much I’ve learned just by listening to a few episodes with Micah. This week’s show was awesome, talking about preseason, cut day, the defense he played in…just a lot of great info that (again) shows just how little fans (and even beat reporters) know about what’s really going on. Great, great listen.

I generally don’t listen to podcasts.  Snippets here and there really …but very few with any regularity would I say I even look for.    But… Wednesdays.. I now look forward to this!  Each episode he talks very candidly about what he and many players are going through.  It’s been quite a revelation in the amount of information just casually thrown out there. 
 

I really can’t wait for the in-season episodes to hear his take each week.

I’m pleased you have gotten the same enjoyment out of this that I have. I don’t listen to any of the Bills’ podcasts daily because it gets to be a bit too much, but this one on Wednesday is a must listen for anyone who wants to hear the “real” story and not just the assumptions and “observations” of others. Micah really peels back the layers of the onion without making it too technical or bad-mouthing anyone.

The host, Mike, is a Philly fan. Once I heard this, it changed how I interpreted his criticism of the team.

I think they have great rapport and ask a lot of fan perspective questions.  I like this podcast a lot.

I will watch the Micah segments since they appear to be good, don't care much for the other hosts though. There are other podcasts out there like Cover1 that I would rather give my time to.
