I used to listen to McAfee before he became Clown Dork Prince of ESPN and back then he was pretty funny, had some good stories. 

 

I've checked out some of his shows/clips over the recent years and all I can ever think of is, "Surely these dweebs can't get any *more* obnoxious, can they?"

 

I'm wrong every time.

 

I'm pretty sure at some point the show is just gonna devolve into those idiots communicating via screams and grunts while wearing ridiculously oversized hats and throwing hammers at one another. ESPN will see this and immediately tack on a other $100M on Pat's contract.

Example of a guy who was originally somewhat likable and then got high on their own supply. ESPN paying him stupid big money just inflated his ego and I just cannot stand the guy or his "Morning Zoo" style show. And it is unfortunate because he had some good interviews that I used to like before he got completely immersed in the whole spectacle of it.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I like Pat and his show, I watch most days, I love how they are mostly about football. I used to be all about GMFB but that show has tanked hard!

There are times when you can hear he's actually exhausted of being that version of himself that's cranked up to 11 all the time. You could hear it a lot especially towards the end of his commentary run with WWE. 

 

But yeah some of these people start out well enough but the money forces them to max out one side of their personality until they're basically caricatures of themselves.

He will be the guy who is all butt hurt over his getting fired in a year or two, when he steps on his own Schwartz on air, and embarrasses himself and his employer,  rinse and repeat with the next dweeb they hire, lol

For the life of me, I will never get the McAfee love. Dude just yells and takes his shirt off. And he was a punter. But I am 100% jealous that he makes what he does for what he does.

I'm guessing you don't know the backstory to why he always wore the black a-shirts. He wasn't doin it to show off. 

 

The amount of people that get offended, calling his show toxic masculinity shows how soft this country is becoming.

 

And geez who cares what position he played. The dude played in the NFL. How many on this message board can say that? I'm pretty sure we all know the answer.

I honestly think him and his show have not really changed much at all.  My honest opinion of what’s changed is people now know how much he makes, how much ESPN paid him…and once someone starts making a lot of money then pubnlic opinion begins to turn on them…because people in this country love an underdog story but hate excess or a big success story.  

 

More you make, the more disdain builds.

 

I can honestly say that I have watched him before ESPN and since ESPN, and there’s literally no significant difference in him, his show, etc.
