I don't care what any body says this is one hell of a good guy & a great coach ! Sure he didn't take our team to the big game but by some of his answers you can tell he was part of & IMHO always will be part of the Bills Mafia !!

While here & I think through out the rest of his career he will bleed Bills red, white & Blue & he put the team & the Bills fans before he did him self as a coach of the team . His perspective is great on every thing I heard in his answers .

I wish him good luck unless of course he plays the Bills & believe 1 day he will win a SB because of what he learned while being the coach of the Bills !!

McDermott gets a lot of credit for turning the Bills around from the POS organization that they were and rightfully so. He seems like a class act and a good guy, but I don't think he will ever win the Super Bowl. He will never have a QB as good as #17. He just seems to choke in the big moments of playoff games. We have seen this for nine years now. I wish him well also except when facing the Bills.

I will always be thankful for my parents and all they did... my goal however was not to live with them it was to build a life of my own... that meant change was needed, a wife was met and future built....  I will always be thankful for McD... but his stewardship and being perennial playoff losers was not the goal... time to build a life past the Divisional Round....

It's what killed him in big games. He got super-tight, and that bled into the team's mentality as well during those moments.

He looks good. Well rested. He does a good job presenting himself to the public. And yes, I'm thankful we hired him when we did. I'm also thankful we let him go when we did.

I think it's hysterical he would say what team didn't end up trading with Buffalo to move up for Allen. We all know it was Denver. He still struggles to just speak openly.

He was in a situation where every success was because of his QB and every failure was on him.  That's a perception that goes far beyond reality.  The last 3 playoff exits saw the Bills offense on the field with a chance to get the lead and then failed to do so.  The :13 fiasco was a stand-a-lone failure that's on him.  The rest not so much, imo.

This is a great observation.   Kind of ironic he was let go when I still believe you could pinpoint that Denver loss squarely on the shoulders of 17.  Under throwing passes, poor turnovers.   Allen made plays in that game, he also made plays that kept Denver in that game.  Same could be said about the last KC playoff loss, up here when bass missed that fg.   That last drive on that 3rd down play he had singletary wide open in the flat, would of been an easy first down  inside the 10.  Instead Allen tried to thread the needle.  Poor decision on his part.   I don't want to be too hard on Allen.   He is the best qb to ever put on a bills uniform.   But the excuses need to stop for him too and he needs to come thru at the end of a playoff game.

And potentially too controlling especially with the offense and ensuring they play "complementary".

Now, don't get me wrong, I know that is an overall strategy and to some degree that's how you must play it, but I think he tipped it way too far at times to one side of the scale.

If the Bills take the next step this year with Brady and Leonhard, it will not reflect well on McDermott…it’s hardly a given that he will get another HC gig.

I think a head coach needs to know the situation down 7, with 22 seconds in the half (and no timeouts) - kneel the ball.  They turned it over coming out of the half too, but that 3 point spot was "on Josh", but a smart head coach knows not to try.

In the home loss to KC, the defense gave up over 8 yards per play.

Out of all re-treads out there, i like his odds. He never could've got us there.... but if he sincerely reflects and examines his entire process honestly, it wouldn't shock me.

Hes got the chance to do it. And a year off to start talking to other football minds about potentially joining a staff. Thatd be Issue #1 if I were him.

No more "yes men" coordinators, get dudes he can trust enough to ACTUALLY delegate to... and then hands off micro managing.

Allen's turnovers (the 2 that were his fault) led to a total of 3 Denver points.

Yeah we went into overtime without those 3 points we would of won the game in regulation.
