Transportation options to Highmark on gameday???

Travelling from Australia to Buffalo and will be going to the week 3 game against the Chargers.  What’s the best way to get to and from the stadium in game day?  Was planning to Uber it early in the Sunday to get to the stadium at around 10.30am, then roll the dice with ride-share on the back, noting it will probably take multiple hours and cost me my fist born… Am staying in lower west side in Buffalo - any other options I should consider?  Have got a couple of prices from private car providers however the price for the car for a day day is horrendous.

 

Update : thanks for all the advice - will get there earlier to make sure I don’t miss anything. Chat GPT tells me from where I live to Highmark is near on travelling half way around the earth (16,300km or 10,130 miles) so waking up an hour earlier seems worth it….

I would recommend getting there early than  10:30 especially if you plan on ubering. I would recommend getting there around 9 before the stadium lot open. There will be plenty of people tailgating already

There’s dedicated bus service from different spots around WNY. It’s very convenient, and quite reasonable. The only downside is they arrive at and leave the stadium approximately 90 minutes before and after the game, so if you were planning on hours of pregame tailgating this isn’t the option for you.

is a bus share I’ve used a few times and it’s not too bad. Has a bathroom on it. At old stadium it still took about an hour and a half to 2 hours to get out of parking lot with traffic might be better with new stadium.

I looked into bussing to the game, but the service I saw stated buses depart 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game.  I can see where 30 minutes is good for some fans who just want to get back to their cars or hotel, but the post-game celebration (hopefully) can be a good time, and if I'm hanging out with some buddies or other revelers, I don't want to be looking at my watch worrying that my ride is leaving in 10 minutes.  

 

Parking used to be so easy. For years we'd just pull into 'Stadium Drive' from Southwestern, between California and Abbott Rd, park in the corner (now the 'white' lot), across from that convenience store.  We'd pay our $10 (or whatever it was then), park in our usual chosen spot. No hassle.  Things have really changed for the worse IMO. I don't even know what they charge to park in those lots now, but I believe it's about the price of a season ticket in 1995.

When I used that service last year it left the stadium more like an hour after the game….which was fine.

Just find someone smart who has fired up a barbeque post game. That’s been my move historically when driving. There’s no way you’re getting out of there fast anyways, might as well enjoy a little meat.

The bus got a police escort both into and out of the stadium. They got out right on time.

Have been taking them for years when I want an easy way to get out of the stadium and it's very accessible 

 

They usually leave the stadium  before 90 minutes after the game is done usually.. I think the most I ever waited was 40 minutes after the final buzzer though obviously things can happen

 

Also multiple rounds usually one earlier in the day and one closer to game time from most of their locations going to the stadium 

 

So you can get there a little earlier or closer to game time.. from most of the spots 

 

Even for the first preseason game most of the spots have buses leaving highmark at 4:30 which is basically right after the game.. in my experience they are leaving pretty close to within 30 or 40 minutes after the final buzzer though obviously things can change

 

University /Utica/ thruway will have a bus getting there at 8:30 and 11:00 

 

MTC will have a bus getting there at 8:00 8:30 10:20 and 11:20 

 

Eastern hills Mall will have a bus getting there at 10:15 a.m

I’d like to say, the bathroom is critical to ensuring a good time, vs…..something else. 

 

We once had a bus take a bunch of clients and prospects to Raymond James stadium in Tampa, about an hour away. There was a big cooler full of beer and other drinks. People were excited to get the behind the scenes tour of the whole place, and everyone was in a good mood. The beer was flowing…..but about half way there came the realization that there was no restroom on board, and there was nowhere to just pull over on the highway. I saw grown men almost cry.

Briscoe, sounds like you have lots of suggestions on this page.  I’m fortunate when I come up with my sons, most of my family lives in Hamburg, OP, and South Buffalonian so not far.  Have fun as am a little jealous as my sons are going with my sister, and nephew for that game.   I can’t make it this year.  If you see a young man (25), and probably will have a Cardinals hat and Bills gear, that’s my son Ryan.  Tell him his dad says hi.  It would be funny if you actually saw him.

 

I know he’s quitting work early today to see his childhood idol Larry Fitz inducted into the HOF today.  He fell in love with him and the team when he was 7 and the Steelers Cards SB was in Tampa.  Fitz rented a home in our gated community for privacy.  Fitzy was nice enough to take a couple of pics and throw the ball around with our young boys.  You’d think my son met the President that day.

Rent a car and drive yourself. Then you can park and come and go as you please. You could probably rent a car in Buffalo for a week for the same price as an Uber or car service on game day.

Might not choose to do that since Aussies drive on the other side if the road than US. I use Uber/taxis or public transit when I travel to countries that drive on the opposite side than US. I worked in Ireland for a bit and tried driving and was caught in a traffic circle for quite a while until I figured how to exit…not again.

Lol. I am going to Ireland next week and can't wait to drive on the wrong side of the road again! Done it several times in UK. 

 

On another note, you should contact Bills PR or whatever network is broadcasting the game. This has to be the longest road trip back to Buffalo to see a game in franchise history.  They may want to do a little segment on your trip.

Go to one of the corner bars after the game for an hour or two then Uber. Traffic will be easy by then and you will still be having a good time.

Downtown Metro has a bus ride to the stadium for $5.

BTW, if anyone is staying near the airport for the Opener and has an open seat to / from Hammer's LMK - working on this same "how do I get to the stadium" game
