There are 5 wideouts in the league who deserve to be paid that kind of money Chase, Jefferson, Lamb, AJ Brown and Nacua.   Everyone else is being overpaid based on the market.    I think the Olave contract is just as egregious as the Flowers contract.  The AAV between the two is essentially 3 million dollars and Flowers is available 20% more than Olave.    Honestly, I think the DJ Moore contract is horrible as well.   His career numbers are almost identical to Flowers' on a per game average, we pay him 5.5 million less per year but he is 3 years older.

Agree with the guy who said draft them early and often because the NFL is starting to pay 2nd tier wideouts elite money.   Most of these guys are products of their availability and offense, not game breakers.

The salary cap was set up to protect teams from trying to pay every pretty good player what the elite players get.  The Ravens probably broke that rule in this case, but they will live with the consequences.  They won't have the money to bring in other pretty good players, and (never mentioned) the other players on the team will look at that contract with envy as well as the thought that if Zay can get that money, I should too.  It's one thing to pay Lamar Jackson, one of the best players in the league, but it's another to pay a guy on the border between JAGism and stardom.

Really? Horrible?

If he produces something like 80 catches for 1,000 yards he is an absolute steal, considering the going rate for a WR1. I believe he will do at least that with Josh Allen throwing him the ball.

when our rivals pay dumb money which hampers their ability to spend in other necessary areas, it should be a cause for celebrating

That’s kind of apples and oranges on the DJ Moore point…the ravens offense was absolutely stacked and the qb/derrick Henry running game opened everything up for guys like zay flowers.  Dj Moore was in a much worse situation and if he’s got similar per game averages to zay flowers I think that is a point against zay tbh

I believe we can all agree that Zay Flowers is nowhere near Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, or JSN talent wise. The Baltimore Ravens were, for whatever reason, inclined to give him $$$ like he was almost worth two of them put together  This is almost like the Deshaun Watson/Cleveland deal for WR's.

The title made me think  Zay Jones the former Bill who ran amok naked a while back gets paid. 😀

Didn't Zay try to jump out a window of a high rise apartment building several years back after smoking artificial marijuana?  I think his bro saved him from catastrophe..

Nobody is going to be a top 10 WR with Lamar.

You realize Jones was 7th in receiving yards last year?  I mean I know common core math is challenging but last I checked 7th was higher than 10th....

PS Lamar missed 4 games last season in which Zay had 22 catches for 211 yards and has scored 1 touchdown. Or in other words 64 catches for 1000 yards and 5 TDs with Lamar which doesn't put him in the top 10 by my count.

Flowers isn't being paid for what he's done...that extension is based on what Baltimore projects he will do entering his prime years.

Also funny to me how people's first thought is showing how much of a "deal" they got, even with their sports teams' signings.  Kinda like 2 neighbors comparing what they paid for their lawnmowers.  LOL.  Except in this regard, no fan here is paying their teams' player.

He makes the same money as Justin Jefferson which is insane .

This makes the DJM contract look even better

Brandon Beane just had a panic attack.  At some point you are gonna have to pay a WR

I never fret over salary figures. The NFL has a salary cap that keeps everyone in check. What I fret over is the fact the league keeps RAISING it!!

You’d rather the owners pocket the extra tv revenues themselves?
