BillsFan619 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) His point-spread value is 7.23, which is almost a full point ahead of the next QB! “‘To me, he's the most talented QB in the league,’ one oddsmaker told me. ‘The durability as well would put him ahead of Mahomes.’ To that point, Allen hasn't missed a game since his rookie season, and at 6-foot-5, 237 pounds he is able to punish defensive backs, safeties and even linebackers when he chooses to run the ball. Allen has at least 421 rushing yards in every season of his career and scored 14 rushing TDs (along with 3,668 yards and 25 TDs passing) this past season. As one oddsmaker put it: ‘He is the entire Bills identity right now.’ Not one, but two oddsmakers had Allen worth nine points more to the spread than his new backup Kyle Allen and Josh Allen was the only QB that all 11 oddsmakers had as worth at least worth six points against the number.” Edited August 4 by BillsFan619 2 1 Quote

Kyle Allen is a sever drop off, even more than Trubisky, so keep that start active record Josh. As 619 states, he is by far the best QB in the league, and does. More for his team than any other player. For all the comparisons to Mahomes, Allen has continued to excel while Mahomes had a steady regression for the last three years. He’s still a great QB, but Mahomes isn’t invincible. Thanks for sharing 619. 1 1 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Let’s all appreciate this time. Josh Allen will finish as the best player to ever wear a Bills uniform (if he hasn’t passed Bruce yet). He plays the most important position in sports. We will never have another QB at this level and may never have another player at this level. Enjoy the ride 3 4 Quote
Gregg Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Let's just hope the Bills don't "Marino" or "Ewing" his career. Allen is one of the best QBs in the league if not the best but if at least one Lombardi isn't in OP at some point, then this will be known as one of the biggest wasted opportunities in Bills history. 1 1 Quote

Almost like it's curated. 2 Quote

Oh poor Josh. He's a victim of the Bills organization. Don't you think he has a little bit to do with if we win or not? For example, had he hit Cooks in stride instead of him having to stop and wait for football that DB would have ZERO chance of taking that football away from him. We'd be on to AFC Championship game and possibly a SB. Everyone needs to do better including innocent victim Josh if we are to win a SB. 2 1 1 Quote

Bills just need a good D to finish games. 1 Quote

When your defense can't protect a 3-point lead and the Chiefs starting at the own 25. That was a sad and pitiful performance by the defense. Yes, Allen had a bad game vs Denver. He would be the first to admit that. With that said he brought them back in the 2nd half and gave the defense a lead to protect late in the 4th quarter. They failed as usual. Allen has put up some great numbers in the playoffs. The problem is he has to be perfect for the Bills to win since he gets very little help from the other side of the ball. It's impossible to play perfect especially when the opponent is also a really good team and when you get to the divisional round or AFCCG the other team is usually one of the top teams in the conference. To the point the playcall on 3rd and long inside their own 5 with the 3 point lead late in the game was to simply rollout and throw the ball away so they could punt. Sorry, this is just not true. Cooks or whoever needs to better too. Cooks says he should have held onto it. If it was "in stride", why did he have to slow up and jump for it? Now, had Josh thrown a pass like this it would have been a different story: 24 minutes ago, Gregg said: What about the 13 seconds game. I said everybody. Please don't take this to mean Sam Darnold is better and he has a great D, but Josh turned the football over four times in our loss to Broncos. Sam Darnold had zero in his 3 playoff games. Josh had a bad game in the turnover department and the D gave up 30 besides getting a stop at n OT, Was a big part of the loss. Why can't we just admit that and try to to do better this year? 1 1 1 Quote

But there were 2 things within our control that would have made it a catch. 1. Cooks hold onto the football. Even he says he should have. 2. A better pass. Either of those happens, we're in the AFC Championship game again. While I agree our D has been not good enough, the fact remains in our last 3 playoff losses we had the football last and for whatever reason couldn't get us a W. 1 Quote

CA OC Bills Fan Posted August 4 Posted August 4 This poll, metric, whatever you want to call it isn't saying Allen's the best QB, it's just saying the drop-off between Allen and Allen is larger than between all other QB1s and their backup. So, we need him to stay healthy more than any other team needs their QB to stay healthy. I think we all knew that which is why there's a bunch of back and forth in another thread about whether to upgrade the backup. Josh Allen is the best QB in football. His backup, Kyle Allen, is not a good QB. Duh. 1 Quote

Do they fear Mahomes or do they fear their crappy, aging skill players? Last year, they maybe had a bottom 10, if not 5, skill group around him. Quote
