I don’t even believe that any other answer is an option. The Bills went through 2 straight years with zero starting-caliber boundary receivers (outside of a handful of games from Cooper and Cooks) to a borderline number 1. Moore is a former 1st rounder, who has had a good bit of success, with terrible QBs, and is still in his 20’s. What he can unlock, and produce, for the offense is the biggest addition.

With that being said, I’m really happy with the Leonhard hire. I believe in a lot of the same things that he does. At Wisconsin, his defenses were always really good despite often lacking the talent of their opponents. I think that we see this defense improve some and be more fun (ie less predictable). I don’t expect them to collapse in the playoffs either. Play going forward!!

We just need it to be a slam dunk trade, for once. It would be so nice to look back at the end of the year and there be no question that Moore was a good move and that the Bills got their money's worth and he was worth the draft capital they gave up.

Yes, there were other good trades in the past, of course, like Diggs, but there have been a lot of lackluster ones as well (including trades up in the draft).

And particularly at WR, we just need a win. Beane really needs a win there, or the fans will really be on him.

The best acquisition is likely Moore, but the most critical addition to me is Leonard.  I think Moore will mesh well but our offense is never really an issue with Josh at the helm.  It’s the D that has kept us from a shot at a Lombardi, so Leonard is the critical piece.  When the defense absolutely has to make a stop, will Leonard’s defense do so, or will it fail as it did often with McD?

I think you might have an indication but if its Leonhard gotta be deep into the winter before we know cause ultimately its gotta result in a playoff Defense

Should Buffalo start the season 3-3 at the bye week,  it could be a long season. Then they have Baltimore, Minnesota, KC, NE, Green Bay, Chicago, and Denver. Not to mention Miami and the NYJs twice.

The status quo has changed, and it's nearly an entirely new coaching staff, with the head coach being a rookie. The DC is also a rookie. We simply don't know...

Hopefully Moore can be a big part of the offense. Leonhard is responsible for every guy who plays on his side of the ball and having an effective scheme his guys can implement. It will be a brand new look on defense. I voted Leonhard.

In the end DJ clearly needs to be the individual we see up our status on offense...  that said, if we go into the playoffs and our D propels us to the big game and is not our fatal flaw, if it is able to take pressure off of Josh, get us the ball back by putting the punter on the field so 17 has more time that would be an epic accomplishment, year 1 seems kinda tough, but we will see.

Like we did against Denver in OT?

I hope Leonhard is NFL assistant coach of the year. I also hope Brandon Beane win NFL Executive of the year for his free agent acquisitions and draft. What the heck, while I'm at it, I would also like Joe Brady to win NFL Coach of the year. OK, last but certainly not least, BILLS WIN SUPER BOWL LX.

Just because he was a great coordinator in college doesnt mean it will translate to running the full show in the NFL. Though I do look forward to some more aggressiveness in general.

This is what I'm worried about as well.

There have been plenty of college coaches that tried to install their college system at the NFL level and fail miserably.

Hopefully that is not the case here

I think Moore is important, I believe he will make a difference. The reason I think that Leonhard will make a bigger impact is because if the defense is just good, and can get the ball back in Josh’s hands, that will make a bigger difference. It’s not complicated, stop the run and don’t let teams convert 3rd and long.

My grandma could have better D then Mc Clappy last season

Bills had the 7th ranked Defense last year (yards allowed).

They were top 12 in points allowed too.

That’s great, but we all saw what we saw. They could not stop the run and constantly let teams convert 3rd and long. And according to some potential head coaches that were interviewed, the Bills defense had become predictable.

This was by design.

Teams weren't putting up yards or points against them.

How many of those coaches had a better record over the past 5 years? There are only a few that could even possibly say that.

It needs to be DJ Moore...

Hell yes it needs to be! With that contract he needs to grab 100 balls for 1400 yards and 10 TDs but I’m not betting on it. The offense will be fine but the defense needs to be aggressive like we haven’t seen

Iirc, the Jets x2, Steelers, Philly and Carolina were the only teams that didn’t reach their average points per game against us last season.

About 4 years ago I said the bills’ best chance was to get a creative defensive coordinator/head coach and roll the dice on surprising teams one year. Winning it all is such a tremendous task, but we seemed to have the guy(s) to do it. We need the slight edge that comes with a different regime. I’m not saying they’ll do it (the odds are always tremendous) but the change gives us the best shot imo. Ideally the head coach would be an innovative dc but we’ll see. The change is going to be the most powerful difference between last year. No injury to Allen will be the most crucial aspect of grading the difference.

I wasn't thrilled with the Brady hire but felt alot better about it once he assembled his staff. Leonard was the most interesting of the bunch because of the defense that comes with him so I'd have to say he's the frontrunner for MVP. We might be another off-season away from getting him the players he really needs to run this defense the way he wants to but I like what I've heard so far from him about that side of the ball.

If that was by design, then it was the stupidest plan ever, because they allowed teams to score more than the league average 8 times and the ones that didn’t were the aforementioned by NewEra.

“Just a few lines later, Dunne wrote: “…they identified the overall philosophy of the defense as the true infection. Stagnation. Predictability. Bend-don’t-break logic that works vs. Geno Smith and Tua Tagovailoa but never in the postseason.“

”As nine interviews for the HC vacancy raged on, Pegula was likely thinking that he made the right choice. Through those conversations, the Bills learned a lot about themselves. One enlightening tidbit of information? Around the NFL, offenses viewed their defense as elementary by modern standards. Pre-snap, candidates said they knew what McDermott was trying to do and effectively audibled into the correct play.
Architectural design, gameplanning and playcalling were re-confirmed as major problems.”

”You’ve read this many times before, but Dunne again referenced the staggering 3.83 points per drive Buffalo allowed in its last six playoff losses, and reminded everyone it’s a higher figure than offense of the vaunted 2007 Patriots.”

Philly, Houston, Steelers, Carolina, Miami x1, Jets x2, and Chiefs (with Mahomes).

NO beat it by 1 point.
