It isn't all, or even primarily imo, on Josh that we are 0-3 in those spots - but you are right to point out that three years in a row in that spot the offense has had the ball last which is what you are supposed to want in those scenarios with an elite QB and we have not gotten it done once. That is simply not good enough. I think it has primarily come down to the offensive talent around Josh - blocking not holding up and/or receivers not making plays - and is primarily on Brandon Beane. But they have promoted the GM who build the roster, promoted the OC who called the plays and obviously Josh is going nowhere.

I know a lot of people think "well just play better defense and it will never come down to the end" but I went back through like 20 years worth of Superbowl winners and I think I found one that hadn't played a one score game somewhere down the playoff track. Your better side of the ball better be able to come through in those clutch moments - and ours the past few years in the playoffs has simply not done so.

So you think the defense allowing 30+ per in those games is fine?

of course they do. it's a convenient way of putting the emphasis on a singular late game possession instead of the larger body of work

Im convinced there are "Fans" that just dont likeJosh. I have pointed out flaws in his game he need to improve on, but I sure as hell didn't (and will not) Pin the Denver game on him. Even with 2 legit turnovers (the fumble from behind was a whiff by Shakir, and the Int that wasn't is definitely not on Josh)  We still had a chance to win that game.

What is the definition of insanity?  We lived it with McDermott, and a change was desperately needed.

Allen said. “I think change is needed sometimes, especially when we’ve been close in the past, even going back 20-ish, 30-ish years ago, just how close the Bills have been to winning a Super Bowl. I think this is kind of a switch that was necessary and I’m very excited.”

I think he’s saying that Marv should’ve been dumped too.

Marv should have assigned someone to keep team in the hotel during SB week. Club Marv was party time down south. It got so bad players couldn't find their helmets!

it's a smooth brain narrative bias.  they say the d caused a punt in over time, and that the O made mistakes/turnovers (obv that did happen) and didn't score in overtime, so if we just take those specific 8 minutes or whatever, they can claim the d outplayed the o.

and to focus on Allen specifically is the cherry on top

like go back and actually look at those last drives...they're basically a Josh Allen highlight reel. ridiculous throws after pass pro fails. multiple only-he-could-do-that third and fourth down conversions. basically zero run game to lean on. and his teammates on offense (and special teams) just absolutely refusing to meet him at his level time after time after time

I’m not sure what that means? Gunner Bill seemed to be putting playoff losses on Josh. How many times did Josh give the defense a lead at the end of a game? If an NFL team scores 30 points their odds of winning are 80-90%. Problem is offense puts up 30 and defense allows 33.

Why do U say the defense hasn't gotten it done when they LiTeraLLy JuSt iCed thE gAme vs the jAGuArS????  I say the offense hasn't gotten it done because they have failed to score TDs in situations where scoring a TD is overwhelmingly likely to win the game.

Let me be 100% clear for the 1,000th time:  The defense has been miserable in the playoffs when playing good offenses. Not at all good enough.  I am in no way defending or excusing the defensive performances.  Despite poor defensive play, Josh Allen and the offense have had many opportunities where scoring a TD likely wins the game and they have come up short.  We can make all the excuses we want, but if Allen is to be considered among the all-time greats he needs to win one of those when it counts (not the wild card round) and he can't go 0 for career in OT.

See how more than one thing can be true? The defense can be historically poor AND the offense hasn't delivered in high leverage situations.

If the argument is everybody else lets Josh Allen down every year or Allen needs a better supporting cast to make the big play when the chips are down then he simply isn't in the class of Mahomes and Brady.  And thats fine if he isn't.  We may have to make our peace with that but I still have faith he can get it done and silence the critics.

No offense - but there is literally no other answer he can give here.  He can't say it was a mistake, or not sure its the right move, or "guess we will find out" or something without causing major PR issues.  He has to verbatim give an answer like this.

So while I don't doubt right now he is excited about what is going on, this statement in no way indicates that Josh pushed for this, had any role in it, gave his blessing, etc.

Terry has no filter - he very blatantly stated it was an emotional decision he made after seeing the locker room after the Denver loss.  Some people are going to take this like Josh had some role, or they met with Josh to let him weigh in and he was like lets fire McD.  But that is not something that can be determined off these comments, its literally boiler plate 100% spot on PR speak.

And for the record - I do 100% believe Josh is excited about Brady and the changes, there are a lot of exciting things that have happened since McD got fired from exciting new staff (and he already liked Brady before the hire), new stadium, new weapons and players, etc.

However - these comments are not some revelation people are trying to make it out to be as if it ties into the original decision to fire McD.

Nothing in this story indicates that at all.

Let's use common sense. Do you think Pegula would fire McDermott without the face and the most valuable person of the franchise approving it?

Agree. But a lot of ours - Klein, Phillips, Marlowe, Hyde etc were later in the year.

The D came up clutch in Jacksonville too. Neither side has been able to do it in games where they have had chances that have led to elimination.

No, he isn't.

I believe the answer to your question is twice and both times were in the 13 seconds game.

How many times has Josh Allen had the chance to score a game winning TD at the end of an eventual playoff loss and came up with a FG, a missed FG, or a turnover??

my fondest wish is that you people hold the defense to the same standard as the offense

No one considers the defense an all-time great unit.  What part of "historically poor" is not enough for you?
