That’s so on brand. 😂😂 Sean Payton loves to be the smartest guy in the room.

On a side note, the ultimate sign of respect for Josh. He might have passed Mahomes as the most feared player in football.

can you imagine though? Especially given our special teams challenges through the years?

I wonder what they saw on film to have it ready for a 4 and 11? That we like to send 10 guys out on key special teams plays?

You are kind of contradicting yourself.......I don't think this was out of respect for Josh, like you said it is totally on brad for Payton.

Probably as simple as, “I like our chances better of converting 4th and 11 than preventing Josh Allen from getting any points.”

It’s on brand for him because he’s an ego maniac but it’s ALSO because of his respect for the guy across the field. He did the same thing to steal a possession from Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl.

They must have seen something on film and prepared for it. Ask Leonhard; he was the assistant HC there.

Overall, I don't think it is such a big deal. All these plays have a key for the players to read, on both sides. Denver found something in film study and maybe during the game for they to ready to execute it. On the play, maybe the key was not there for them or the Bills players read their key on potential Denver's fake and reacted alignment wise or did something causing the fake to be audibled off.

He probably should have run it. Would have rather lost on the more conventional Bills special teams gaffe.

The Bills lost on ST with MCM, and I felt disgusted after that game. No matter how they lose in the playoffs they are all painful.

Imagine we would be in a totally different scenario today if they ran it and failed.  Maybe Pegula was deadset on firing Mcdermott though if they lost in AFCCG.

The part you didn't mention is that Payton's reasoning was that Tyrell Shavers always played the return rather than the fake. The only problem, of course, is that Shavers wasn't active in that game -- a fact which was lost on Payton.

Guy may be a good coach, but he's also an arrogant egomaniac and a prick.

Not to worry.  Through Facebook and burner cell phones, he contacted Gregg Williams to hire a double blind secret hit man to kneecap those responsible for kiboshing the plan.

Nfln was replaying the colts-Saints SB over the weekend and I remarked that the onside kick to start the 2nd half in that game made his career. He’s known for that and bounty gate. He comes off as an arrogant SOB and it seems his own QB hates him after he decided to tell the media all abut his injury.

There is a reason Bill Parcells called Sean Payton "Dennis The Menace" when he was in Dallas with him.  He kept payton on a short leash because of stuff like this.

Yeah much better than losing cause of 5 turnovers.

Both Billsy in their own right, but the ST gaffes are just so ingrained at this point. I could have at least understood it.

I mean, the guy did call an onside kick to steal momentum starting the second half in a Super Bowl...

Also, it was the Bills and it was 4th and long... couldn't he have just called a pass play?

Sadly, if he did call a pass play we all know it would have picked up a first down.
