Happy 4th my Brothers and Sisters. I am truly glad to be an American and count this and my other blessings each and every day. May we someday truly try to make America great again. As I just revealed above, I'm far from an indiscriminate, blind flag waver and also, for good reason I'm not xenophobic, jingoistic, overly-nationalistic, or culturally prejudiced BUT... maybe it's just me but it seems like the beer being given away for free should be an American brand and not Corona??? Money talks. I would have taken a free Bud* as well, but nothing in sight. I can only drink the free beer that is offered, I’m not a magician! I really got a kick out of a runner at the 4 mile mark who threw a Michelob Ultra can into the trash at 7:30 am as he went by. Is he that manly? Or is that not really beer? *Not that they are even American. . Edited July 5 by Augie 1 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted July 4 Posted July 4 As for July 4th festivities and sports, I see where Joey Chestnut won his 18th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest! He simultaneously: 1) Beat the second place finisher by 15 hot dogs. 2) fell 10 hot dogs short of his personal best. In other words, he coasted to victory by eating 66 hot dogs in 10 minutes. For his troubles, he wins $10K... he badly needs an agent. If I'm Joey Chestnut I'm telling the Nathan's people that unless I get $30K, I won't be coming back to defend my title next year. His appearance and publicity... and even the spike in walk up business at their Coney Island location is worth WAY MORE than $10K. Since Kobayashi retired, Chestnut is competitive eating. He should be compensated commensurately. Quote

It's measured by how it compares to others. Michael Jordan shot 49.7% during his career, and went home 9 of 15 seasons without winning the NBA Title. The United States is not perfect. But it's vastly superior to other countries in the world, both presently and historically. 1 3 Quote
dhg Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I live Borden Losson area in Cheektowaga. This guy who I think was on Losson blew off fireworks that were way better than any public display we've ever seen. He must have spent thousands of $. But, hey not our money and we got to see almost 4 hours of spectacular display Quote

I should of known in this day and age you have to be easy on the jokes as it can tend to get a rise and be more offensive then funny. of course, I'm no comedian but no wonder comedians struggle here in this glorious 21st century to get a laugh. machine gun kelly Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 It’s simple, how about we all appreciate we live in a free society. We just wanted to celebrate our country. Anyone wanting to move to my wife’s country if origin, where she gave up everything to get the heck out of it, (China), where people just disappear. Not Hollywood. My wife lived it and lived in fear. She loves her culture, her food, her people, pretty much everything, but doesn't want her kids growing up in fear. She spent $400,000 to get her kids here and they are contributing members of society. They are straight A+. Students, have jobs, and also have a small business as they are industrious. I respect anyone’s point of view against anything political as you have every right to think whatever. You also live in a free society that allows that exact point. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with anything someone so crudely said on our 250th independence. That’s why some of the guys on this board who I know fought to allow you to hate America. So did my dad, my three uncles, and they all volunteered when there was a draft. Shame on you on the 4th to blame American, on the 250th anniversary of our independence. Find another board, Facebook, whatever. All I started this for was to bless America. The greatest country in the world. We may have warts, but try communism or fascism. now I’m done. 1 1 Quote
Dillenger4 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Such great posts guys. All of them. I'm not from USA - but I truly enjoy visiting! Trying to hit all 30 MLB parks before I die... we are at 11 so far. Every city we visit has nice people, some homeless issues and amazing food! Happy 4th even though I am late to the post. Too bad Belgium had to ruin it all yesterday. Go Bills - North Americas team. 1 Quote
