Stabler & Pastorini swapped teams as did Vilipiano and Bobby Chandler#81. Chuck Knox had built a contending team here and this would be his best season, starting with the Miami jinx being broken. Speaking of broken, Pastorini would break his leg and the once promising, now journeyman Jim Plunkett would go on to lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl. Our Bermuda Triangle Defense was the Leagues’ best and rookie Joe Cribbs was an astonishing addition. Fergy, Lewis & Butler lit up the League! We thought we’d be great for many years..

Enjoy!

If they only could have held on for the win over the Chargers in the divisional round, then they probably would have gone to the Super Bowl and played the Eagles. The AFCCG would have been Oakland at Buffalo and in this game been shown in this thread the Bills beat the Raiders 24-7 with the only score for them coming off a pick 6. The Bills D pitched a shutout this game.

To the bolded, Jim Plunkett was the first player selected in the 1971 draft. Archie Manning (yes, that Manning) was drafted 2nd overall and Dan Pastorini was selected 3rd.

The Bills took JD Hill with the 4th pick.

That 1980 game is a distant memory, but the 1989 last seconds playoff loss to Browns seems like it was yesterday.  Freaking Ronnie Harmon got a perfect pass from Jim Kelly to win the game, but he dropped it.  Hope he has recurring nightmares of that drop.

Thanks, Chan, still one of my all-time favorite games. That slick fake reverse by Fergy with the easy TD flip to Cribbs -- what a beauty! After the 70s misery, a 4-0 start to the season was almost unimaginable for my brothers and me.
