It should be interesting. The grass was installed in October. I have faith in the science and of course they'll monitor the field on a daily basis and make corrections as needed. However, minimally when growing a field of monocultural crops, you need fertilizer, pesticide and fungicide. They'll also have to control moisture level too. They'll likely have to use an herbicide to control weeds too. It actually makes me wonder about the health impacts on players based on the chemical exposure... and BTW there are health impacts based on the use of crump rubber infill on artificial turf fields. They installed grass in a bunch of turf stadiums and it was pristine with much heavier usage than in-season NFL. People just know how to do this a lot better than they did 20 years ago…. Quote

Except for the people in NJ. There have been quite a few players over the years (including Jets/Giants) who say MetLife is one of the worst fields to play on. I would be curious to hear from the Bills players since they have to play on it every year and will do so twice in 2027 with a road game at the Giants. Quote

Im not too worried about the chemical exposure. I doubt they are dumping tons of 2,4,D for weed control or even fert after like Halloween. Doesnt seem to affect baseball players and even though its a different game they are on those grass fields literally all day every day during the entire growing season when most chemicals are applied. Its just the wild card aspect of the whole thing. Again, Im sure they have put a ton of time and planning into this but its a giant living thing in a new ecosystem. There WILL be wild cards and who the hell knows WHAT they will be until the doors of the place open. Going to be interesting to see how the field plays and holds up. Edited July 8 by RkFast 1 Quote
