I went to a concert June 7 and ordered an instant download seat June 1.  I instantly got a worthless fraudulent seat to a minor league soccer game.  I asked for the seat immediately or a refund immediately.  They made me wait until an hour before the show to offer either a refund or vastly inferior seats.  I could see where it was headed and a couple days before the show I bought a legit seat on Ticketmaster, so I took the refund.  But it was infuriating as I flew 5 hours to go the show, which is why I originally bought an instant download seat.  I had no idea that they were as subject to fraud and non delivery as any other seat they sold.

I've used them in the past, but never again - when i see that SH is posting tickets for sale BEFORE THEY ACTUALY GO ON SALE, just shows me that their site is fantasy land. You're likely buying what someone hopes to have for sale.

I use StubHub all the time, it’s the cheapest tickets, imo. But recently I’ve noticed there’s a lot of shady stuff going on in terms of sellers not sending tickets.

i scored a great deal to the NCAA tournament at Key Bank, but tickets were never sent. I had to sit on the phone for hours to eventually get my refund, and when I bought tickets to the second round game I ended up spending twice what I had planned.

I still reluctantly use StubHub, but I do not sell tickets and only buy tickets that are Instant Download ones.

See the post I just made - instant download offers no additional protection, I found out the hard way.

I've used Gametime, Tickpick, and Vivid Seats. Never had any issues with them. Gametime claims you can score a great deal by waiting until the last minute. The first time I used them was for a Guns n Roses concert in Hershey. I didn't buy the tickets until about 10 in the morning the day of the concert. I got row 17 dead center for $80. I've never had luck with prices dropping like that for football games though.

Someone on FB last night posted a screen shot from VividSeats of tickets for sale for the Red & Blue practice at the new stadium. The tickets that have not even been released to STH yet.

This may or may not be the place for this. In lieu of what is happening with the World Cup tickets, I wanted to share my story. Since its peak offseason I figured I’d open Pandora’s Box.

So, I sold my tickets to the Chiefs game last year. A friend invited me to sit with her. I had an extra ticket and so did she, so we decided instead of finding 2 people at the 11th hour, I would just sell mine.

I listed them late (a day or 2 before the game). I think I asked $1000 for the pair or something like that. My cut was like $896 so whatever that works out to. Before I left for the stadium the morning of the game, I switched to use the “auto upload” feature for the tickets. I figured if they sold, I wouldn’t be around to transmit the tickets. My plan was to just adjust pricing if needed.

Sure enough they sold at the asking price.  I go to the game, everything is fine. The next day, I’m driving home from somewhere and get a push notification from AMEX. My card gets charged $896!! That can’t be right, that’s what I am owed, not the other way around.

I call StubHub and am on the phone for hours. They said that I never sent the tickets and the person showed up. They refunded that person and charged me. I’m furious.

The next day, I called my rep and asked if he could email me the screenshot of when, and where, I transferred the tickets to. He sent it over, and sure enough, it was sent to StubHub that morning. They apparently never loaded them on. They never transferred them to that person. They then charged me for it.

Over the next few months, I made dozens of calls to StubHub. I provided the documentation straight from the Ticketmaster system at the Bills. After a few months, I got a letter more or less saying, “too bad.” Now I’m even more furious, and helpless. As many of you can probably tell, I’m not quick to let things go. 😂😂

I have a bunch of friends still in ticketing. My one buddy sent me this attorney that does nothing but sue StubHub. I sent him everything. He has a multi-million dollar class action suit with them now. This World Cup situation will be a nightmare but this is independent of that.

Last night, I received an email from him, that I am getting my money back, the penalty and interest. I don’t owe the attorney a dime. StubHub acknowledged fault in this case and hundreds of others. I’m so mad that it came to this but feel vindicated.

Needless to say, I will never use StubHub again. They didn’t even really ever argue that I was wrong. They pretty much said, “too bad” until this attorney got on it. I am sure that I’m not alone in this but has anyone else ever had a terrible experience with them (or any other ticketing platforms)?

Now I want to hear the WC story🤦‍♂️ Good thing you were persistent, glad you got your $$$ back.

I'm not a big seller anymore..  But I've purchased a lot of MLB, NFL, NCAAF and NHL tickets on SeatGeek.  Never had an issue.  You can load the tix/barcodes on Apple wallet or whatever phone so it's easy to get in if cell service is spotty.  I used to use StubHub (pre covid) to buy and sell some tix but not in recent years.  I trust SeatGeek the best of all of them.

Although for this upcoming Bills season I did purchase tix for two Bills games on Ticketmaster.  I don't use them much but I don't want to mess around in season #1 of the new Highmark.  Ticketmaster is the official ticketing partner of the NFL and the Bills so I figured they are the most trusted reseller.  I did get the tickets for both games within 5 mins of buying them.

I did. They credited it back. Amex is great when it comes to service.

This happened to me on Tik PIk.. exact same.   Never got my money back.  Funny I think it was for a Bills game or Cowboys can't recall

Amex is fantastic.  If you are going to use StubHub or whatever, make sure to use Amex!

I've never had a StubHub issue, but now I'm worried.  Any alternative sites you suggest?

You can, but if the company fights it they may not give you the money back. I’ve had it go both ways.

It’s beyond idiotic that Stubhub operates on this model where they are able to screw over the buyer and the seller. You’d think they would prioritize keeping at least some customers happy. Yet they manage to charge a seller who doesn’t deliver tickets, and simultaneously offer the screwed over buyer vastly inferior tickets.

Yes, I've had multiple bad experiences.  After the last one, I refuse to use StubHub for anything.

In my family, I've always been the one picking out seats to events (sports, concerts, etc.)  Most of the time, I like to purchase the tickets several months in advance to make sure we don't miss out.  Since we aren't loaded with money, I usually preview the stadium layout and try getting something in the middle section at a reasonable price.  The problem is... StubHub doesn't actually send you the tickets until right before the event.  And just because you picked out tickets in a particular section doesn't mean those are the ones you are ACTUALLY going to get.  I found this out the hard way.

Twice last year, we showed up to the venue... only to be shocked and confused that our seats were way up in the nosebleeds.  Scanning my phone, I confirmed the seats matched with the tickets they had emailed the day before.  Of course I could no longer access the venue layout, so I was totally relying on my memory.  We sat down frustrated, and I apologized to my wife for somehow getting such terrible tickets.

When the Phantom of the Opera came to our local theater earlier this year, I left it to my wife to get the tickets.  She wanted to see the show very badly, and I didn't want the reponsibility of picking out bad seats.  She used StubHub, and that's when I finally put two/two together.  She paid a good chunk of money for seats that were supposed to be down on the floor.  When we got there, the seats were literally the top row of the balcony.  The absolute farthest we could have possibly been from the stage.  When a worker from the theater helped us look closer, we found StubHub charged us 2x the actual box office price, for the worst seats in the house.

I simply wasn't educated enough on the dynamics of the resale market.  They took advantage and ripped us off.

Now that I know what I'm doing, I refuse to use their company.

This thread has been an eye opener.  I haven’t used resale vendors too much but will be even more wary now. And I’ll only use my credit cards that I know have worked well with me on disputes.

Thanks for starting this topic and thanks also for pursuing a remedy to make yourself whole.

You've alerted a lot of people like myself to the scam AND it's only through actions like those you took that unscrupulous companies can be identified and corrected.

Much appreciated. 👍

I went to 2 Super Bowls with StubHub, but there was a big difference back then: They still had paper tickets and StubHub had distribution sites near the stadium.  There was no electronic transfer so the risk was a lot lower because they had to hand you the ticket the day of the game.

Super Bowl XLVII at Met-Life:  They had a building they used in a shopping center about 5 miles from Met-Life.  They also sold parking there that I received my pass in the mail the week of the game.  I drove down to NJ that morning, went to the shopping center, parked in the designated area with my pass in the front window, picked up my ticket and then went to the pregame party in their building until the buses to the stadium arrived. I took the 1st bus available & got to the stadium early.  After the game I took the bus back to where I parked & drove my car to the motel I reserved in norther NJ.  When I got there I turned on the news & found out there was a snowstorm coming Monday.  I ended up leaving at 4:30AM when the snow started & was back home by 6:30 AM.

Super Bowl 50:  They still had paper tickets that year.  The distribution point was within walking distance of Levi's Stadium.  It was an open spaced party with food & entertainment. Ryan Fitzpatrick was one of the entertainers on a stage with others talking football within the party area.  We got our tickets, walked back to Levi's & went to the game.  The way we went was we drove to Fremont & got buses at a train station that took us to the stadium & back to Fremont.

Can you just skip ahead to where all the bad stuff starts happening?   😃

Not personally but I've heard a few people who have.

FWIW, my buddy said that it has been much worse since their IPO in September. Maybe there was some changes to how they handled things.

Probably changes to how they can grab every last dollar to improve profits and share prices while not caring about other things like customer experiences and safety.

What's new? Maximize corporate greed at all costs.

Grats on getting that sorted out.  It’s really sad that getting a lawyer is the only way normal folk can avoid being taken advantage of by these meats companies.

OT- anyone hear about the bricks and minifigs scandal?  Similar situation with the company just trying to brush off a regular guy with no money to afford lawyers.  Only in this case, the company  stole 100k worth of legos from the guy
