Kirby Jackson Posted July 1 Posted July 1 This may or may not be the place for this. In lieu of what is happening with the World Cup tickets, I wanted to share my story. Since its peak offseason I figured I’d open Pandora’s Box. So, I sold my tickets to the Chiefs game last year. A friend invited me to sit with her. I had an extra ticket and so did she, so we decided instead of finding 2 people at the 11th hour, I would just sell mine. I listed them late (a day or 2 before the game). I think I asked $1000 for the pair or something like that. My cut was like $896 so whatever that works out to. Before I left for the stadium the morning of the game, I switched to use the “auto upload” feature for the tickets. I figured if they sold, I wouldn’t be around to transmit the tickets. My plan was to just adjust pricing if needed. Sure enough they sold at the asking price. I go to the game, everything is fine. The next day, I’m driving home from somewhere and get a push notification from AMEX. My card gets charged $896!! That can’t be right, that’s what I am owed, not the other way around. I call StubHub and am on the phone for hours. They said that I never sent the tickets and the person showed up. They refunded that person and charged me. I’m furious. The next day, I called my rep and asked if he could email me the screenshot of when, and where, I transferred the tickets to. He sent it over, and sure enough, it was sent to StubHub that morning. They apparently never loaded them on. They never transferred them to that person. They then charged me for it. Over the next few months, I made dozens of calls to StubHub. I provided the documentation straight from the Ticketmaster system at the Bills. After a few months, I got a letter more or less saying, “too bad.” Now I’m even more furious, and helpless. As many of you can probably tell, I’m not quick to let things go. 😂😂 I have a bunch of friends still in ticketing. My one buddy sent me this attorney that does nothing but sue StubHub. I sent him everything. He has a multi-million dollar class action suit with them now. This World Cup situation will be a nightmare but this is independent of that. Last night, I received an email from him, that I am getting my money back, the penalty and interest. I don’t owe the attorney a dime. StubHub acknowledged fault in this case and hundreds of others. I’m so mad that it came to this but feel vindicated. Needless to say, I will never use StubHub again. They didn’t even really ever argue that I was wrong. They pretty much said, “too bad” until this attorney got on it. I am sure that I’m not alone in this but has anyone else ever had a terrible experience with them (or any other ticketing platforms)? 6 4 Quote
Just Jack Posted July 1 Posted July 1 From a selling standpoint, yes. A couple years ago, I had my tickets listed on Ticketmaster. I heard from someone, that StubHub was grabbing those listings and reselling them (at a higher price) on their website. I looked, and sure enough, my seats were listed on SH. Played around, I could increase my price on TM, and moments later SH would show the increase. Decrease on TM, same, SH would show the decrease. What I could not do was increase my price on TM to $5K/ticket, then quickly buy from SH at the lower price they had posted, so I could pocket the difference. I ended up contacting SH and they removed my seats from there listings, so I could keep them on TM only. Another story, not me, but someone I know bought seats on SH, drove 5 hours to the game, and SH never sent them the tickets to get in. They ended up not getting in, and SH offered them tickets to another game for free. I tell people when they ask what site to buy from, to always stick with TM. 2 1 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Damn that sucks man. Sorry you had to go through all that. I would definitely be aggravated as well. Luckily the few times I use StubHub, both selling tickets when I had my seasons and to purchase tickets(Sabres playoff games recently) I've never had any issues myself. Quote

I purchased tickets to events and they never sent the tickets. That has happened twice. No third time for me. I won't use them again. Your situation sounds truly incompetent and would infuriate me. Mine just sucked because it took the fun out of a situation that should have been fun and made it rather stressful. You get ready for an event, uber, bring date, etc. Then to be in that spot, just not good. Edited July 1 by Mikie2times Quote
TheWei44 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 That totally sucks and had a similar experience with them and Vivid Seats, I think (Long long story - I was the buyer). Key issue, among others, is that customer service is atrocious, so it ends up being such a headache and so stressful when you know you're 100% right but have to deal with an awful system. In my experience, things sometimes go just fine but when they don't, it's an absolute nightmare. 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 My buddy that sent me this guy explained the World Cup debacle to me. His text: They have literally not filled thousands of orders. They are giving refunds on tickets but not penalizing brokers. The market lifter (like 3x) during group stage. So you “sold” a ticket for $600 it became worth $1800. StubHub let you cancel the order and resell it for $1800 only paying the $600 so fans are out the hotel, airfare and experience Quote
Just Jack Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I found the post from the person I know that drove 5 hours and never got their tickets, and a news story from WKBW about the experience... Quote Here is as far as we got at the game today. The parking lot. We bought tickets to today's game through StubHub MONTHS ago. They never released the tickets. We sent emails and called, they just kept saying they have up to an hour before the game before they have to release the ticjets. They assured us everything is fine. Everything was not fine. We called again standing outside the stadium only to be told that we are not getting our original tickets in section 113 row 4, but they can give us tickets in section 337 or we can take the refund. Refund it is. Go Bills, we're headed back to the ADK. I did get to meet this lovely lady, a follower, who was so sweet to invite us to her tailgating party. And to the follower who let us park in her yard, THANK YOU!!! Buffalo Bills fans paid $1,000 for tickets but never received them from StubHub 1 1 Quote

holla83 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) I live in Elmira and have a nephew attending college at Cortland. I took him to a Syracuse basketball game in February. I got corner seats in the 100 level from StubHub. Pretty good seats. Game day arrives and I still hadn't received the tickets. I head out to pick up my nephew and called StubHub when I got on the highway. I explain the situation and they said the best course of action was to replace the tickets. Now they advertise that they will provide comparable tickets in that situation. They offered me tickets in the 300 level. I told the guy those weren't comparable. I asked if they could contact the seller before I accepted the tickets. I had an issue a few years ago and that solved it. He said he would do that and call me back in 15 minutes. That call never came. I ended up having to call back. I have to explain everything again and the woman offers me the same tickets in the 300 level. I said I would take them but asked for a partial refund or an account credit because those tickets were probably half of what I paid. They wouldn't do anything there either. I told the woman I probably would not be doing business with StubHub ever again. I was literally downloading the tickets as we were walking towards the Dome Edited July 1 by holla83 2 Quote

shane nelson Posted July 1 Posted July 1 StubHub sucks, but i am afraid of trying another platform. I dont think there is one out there that stands out. If there is, please share other options 1 Quote
Neo Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) I won’t bore you all with details. Our prior posters have hit the high points. The WORST is when you’re traveling to a game out of town to use tickets you purchased on the platform. Not only is the transaction at risk, so are flights and hotels. Nothing’s “released” until the morning of the event, so you can’t confirm you have everything before committing thousands and driving to an airport. Stubhub is the Great Satan. Insight - this tells you how much the NFL values “data.” The league is willing to expose its customers to unholy experiences to learn who buys what from whom, and where, and at what price. Stubhub provides data to the NFL. That’s its value proposition. Edited July 1 by Neo 1 1 Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 No stories, just a speculation on my part. If that twit Robin Leach was still alive, he would be on some Caribbean island, interviewing the millionaire arsewipe who developed StubHub. 🤬 Quote
CA OC Bills Fan Posted July 1 Posted July 1 StubHub literally stopped working for me years ago. I don't remember what would happen, but in any case I couldn't get in to buy tickets there. Since then I've bought and sold tickets almost exclusively either through TicketMaster or TickPicks and have never had an issue, at least never had one that wasn't my own fault. I think it was two seasons ago, I sold tickets to one of the later games of the season on TickPicks, I think it was the KC game. When you list them, you have to change a button to show that you don't have them in your possession. I didn't make the change or if I did, it didn't register as such. As I was paying in monthly payments, I would not have had to make that payment until months later but when the tickets sold, because I said I had possession, I had to deliver them within 24 hours. So, I had to go into my account and pay basically for the full season of my four tickets right away so I could deliver the tickets. Not horrible, but not what I wanted to do. Quote

Albany,n.y. Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I went to 2 Super Bowls with StubHub, but there was a big difference back then: They still had paper tickets and StubHub had distribution sites near the stadium. There was no electronic transfer so the risk was a lot lower because they had to hand you the ticket the day of the game. Super Bowl XLVII at Met-Life: They had a building they used in a shopping center about 5 miles from Met-Life. They also sold parking there that I received my pass in the mail the week of the game. I drove down to NJ that morning, went to the shopping center, parked in the designated area with my pass in the front window, picked up my ticket and then went to the pregame party in their building until the buses to the stadium arrived. I took the 1st bus available & got to the stadium early. After the game I took the bus back to where I parked & drove my car to the motel I reserved in norther NJ. When I got there I turned on the news & found out there was a snowstorm coming Monday. I ended up leaving at 4:30AM when the snow started & was back home by 6:30 AM. Super Bowl 50: They still had paper tickets that year. The distribution point was within walking distance of Levi's Stadium. It was an open spaced party with food & entertainment. Ryan Fitzpatrick was one of the entertainers on a stage with others talking football within the party area. We got our tickets, walked back to Levi's & went to the game. The way we went was we drove to Fremont & got buses at a train station that took us to the stadium & back to Fremont. Quote
Buddy Hix Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I use StubHub all the time, it’s the cheapest tickets, imo. But recently I’ve noticed there’s a lot of shady stuff going on in terms of sellers not sending tickets. i scored a great deal to the NCAA tournament at Key Bank, but tickets were never sent. I had to sit on the phone for hours to eventually get my refund, and when I bought tickets to the second round game I ended up spending twice what I had planned. I still reluctantly use StubHub, but I do not sell tickets and only buy tickets that are Instant Download ones. 2 Quote
Ned Flanders Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Had an issue with SeatGeek last summer...bought tickets in the afternoon for a concert that night scheduled for 8:00pm. At around 6:30, the tickets had not arrived, so I called SeatGeek and they cancelled the transaction and gave me a decent discount for my next purchase. The original ticket holder sent me the tickets at 8:03pm and I was not charged. 1 1 Quote
