Edge Rusher "Havoc Creations" stat.......does this surprise you??

Never heard of this stat before, but Groot ranked 14th, Bosa ranked 16th, and Chubb only ranked 30th.

 

Since the Bills Pass Rush was so dismal last year, anyone else think that this stat may be misleading??

Honestly, no. Groot had an incredible year in 2025. Easily his best as a pro. The only people who don't think so are the stat line scouts. The bare sack numbers did not do him justice.

So it's saying that Groot had a pressure every 6.69 pass rush attempts? And Bosa every 7.15 PRA?

 

If that's the case, I'm not sure I really saw that on the field at the time. I always felt like opposing QB's had time to pick us apart.

Groot was around the QB a ton last season, but didn't finish a lot.  Honestly, since he's come into the league, collapsing the pocket and affecting the QB hasn't been a major issue for him, but finishing has.  As close as he gets, it always seems he's 1 step away.  I know a lot of that is because of how responsible he is in the run game, but I am hoping in this new defense he will be able to get more dedicated pass rushes through design.  But we'll see.

I'm excited to see Groot in this new defense. He seems to think it suits him better and will lead to more pass rush production.

i think groot is a better player than he's been allowed (or capable of) to show in the mcdefense.  i think not only will having a 5 man front give our edge guys more pass rush ability, it will let oliver and hopefully someone else (walker, tj, both?) on the inside some green lights to wreck shop.  also, having so many different skill sets and way more athletic juice in the back end will allow for some clever moves on coverage, like jumping routes early/taking them away to allow a bit more time for pass rushers to close the deal.

 

i remember seeing stats from the last two years showing that the bills were really quite weak on short passes and vs the run (duh).  it's kinda crazy that what we sucked at on d (and to some extent allowed as we focused on the deep stuff so heavy) is kinda all we did on offense ourselves.

Bosa was on fire September and into as October, he cooled down as the weather did and now he is going to retire

It's blasphemous (to some) to say this, but how many D linemen from the Bills are going to see massive upticks in production this year because they aren't just being asked to "keep things in check?"

Yea he had a great year but he's not an elite finisher

In a five-man front rushing five he's going to have better opportunities 

 

When we rush 4 the bills are still going to have to have Gap integrity or they're going to get beat between the tackles or outside the tackle box

 

You can't just blindly let it rip with four... good quarterbacks nowadays will find the creases 

 

I want sacks at the correct time ... Terrell Suggs played the game correctly.. played the run and the Gap correctly on the first two downs and rushed the passer on 3rd.. very few play the game correctly like that

 

When we're bringing five and everybody's going one-on-one that gives them all an opportunity to win fast without being out of position

 

Gregg has done everything except finish consistently... Alignment from 34 is better from a pass rushing standpoint so that could help

Regarding Chubb, I recall seeing that the Dolphins had about 1000 defensive snaps last year and he was the only edge who played more than 500.

 

I think their other top 2 guys, Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson were basically injured and unavailable for much of the year which allowed other teams to key on Chubb.

I think Chubb if healthy going to give us what we haven't had 

 

Two consistent guys off the edges 

 

And they are both more power guys not finesse

I don't think you mean a better player. You mean a player more capable of putting up big sack numbers. He was brilliant last season in the McDermott defense. Anyone who actually watched the film will attest to that.

Well, as he just expressed his excitement for the new defense, he mentioned his previous role was run support first.  So, the time it takes to recognize a play is not a run but a pass could account for that one step.

if he was a hidden 15 sack guy but held back to play the run it would be an incredible indictment on McDermott in my opinion 

 

and while I’m not a big McDermott guy I would be surprised if he was held back drastically. 
 

if he jumps from 8 to 10.0 then I guess meh. Nice but not wild.

I think he’s a solid player but struggle getting to high praise. 
 

It’s just really hard to reconcile 7 sacks and the 30th ranked rush yards per attempt with the guy being brilliant. Reliably solid maybe?
