Even with the AJ Brown trade I’m not overly impressed with the Pats offseason. It wasn’t bad but I just don’t feel like the Pats upgraded their roster all the much?

Diggs had 1000 yards for them last year and he’s gone now..is AJ Brown likely to exceed that?  Seems like a push…

Brown had over 1000 yards with another top WR on the eagles. Also the last 3 games the Pats had force feed him the ball get him over 1k he really fell off. Also Dobbs is an upgrade over as WR2

You know, I have a more general reaction to this discussion, which I'll say below. Please don't take it as criticism of anyone; it's just my point of view in discussions like this. And sometimes, I enjoy them.

I'm really not very interested in discussions about how other teams have gotten better in the off-season. Most of those discussions are about the teams in the division, and for the Bills, about the Chiefs. I'm not all that interested because the simply reality is that there are going to be several good teams on the Bills schedule, and I don't think it matters much who they are. What's important is whether the Bills can be one of those five or six teams in the league who can beat everybody. Doesn't mean they'll go undefeated; it just means that from week to week the Bills are always favored or, against the other best teams in the league, it's a push.  That's what the Bills have to be. It doesn't matter much who the push teams are; they'll be there every season, and you have to beat them.

The Pats aren't a push team until they are one. No one was circling their names on the schedule until late in the year, and even then, they weren't at the Pats as formidable. They're not a push team yet. 2026 will answer the question.

The Bills were that last year. IMO the bet themselves in every defeat especially the one in the playoffs.. The Bills could have won the SB last year if they didn’t self sabotage.

Right. What the season is about is proving that you're one of those teams that is going to be favored more or less all the time. Then you get to the playoffs and you have to beat the other teams that are in that category.  It's a tough task.

In any case, no one thought the Patriots were one of those teams last season. The Bills were one throughout, and the Broncos and Seahawks had made themselves ino those teams by the end of the season.

What a lot of Bills fans are missing is that the Patriots OC, in Josh McDaniels, is the same guy who helped Tom Brady win a lot of Super Bowls. He returned to the team last season. He also helped rookie QB Mac Jones get to the playoffs in his first season. Drake Maye may or may not fall on his face this season, and it's a wait-and-see type deal, as nobody knows.

Regardless of their 2024 schedule, it's tough to win an NFL game, even against bad teams sometimes. 14-3 means that they were a pretty good team, top 5 offense, top 10 defense. They did beat Buffalo in Buffalo in the regular season, and went on to beat the Chargers, Texans, and even a Denver team minus Bo Nix, all in the playoffs. To overlook them as a not-so-good team would be foolish. They improved this offseason in many areas.

What the Buffalo Bills must do to find themselves in the mix at the end of the season is to defeat that injury bug that continues to haunt them year after year. If they can stay somewhat injury free than they stand a chance against any team.

Came across this article:

“The Patriots have seemingly pulled away in the race with the many moves they've made in the offseason.

Meanwhile, the Bills haven't done much of anything to signal they'll be any better than they were last year. One could even argue that they'll take a step back after firing head coach Sean McDermott. Josh Allen is Superman on the football field, but he's going to need more than D.J. Moore and a middle-of-the-road defense to fly high enough to reach his first Super Bowl….

The Bills have to be seeing the moves being made by the Patriots, and it would be hard to imagine them feeling good about their offseason in relation to the competition. They are now faced with a situation where the Patriots have one of the best young quarterbacks in the league in Drake Maye and a top-10 defensive unit that gave Allen problems last season.

Will the Bills ever wake up and realize fighting fire with fire is much better than laying the hopes and dreams of an entire franchise on the shoulders of one man?”

Do you think this is justified or comically arrogant?

I can’t even describe (but I’ll try) how much it irks me that there is a narrative out there how Drake Maye is “one of the best players in football.”

Dude is a nice QB but give me a freaking break. His performance in the Super Bowl reminded me of Craig Morton vs. Dallas.

I really can’t wait to see the Pats*** stumble this season and read a bunch of nonsensical excuses.

Brown could slightly exceed it but they also added Doubs so it’s a better WR core but not enough oline improvement and some defensive regression

They truly believe they are the big dog now.

Let’s see what Josh and the boyz have to say about that.

God, I hope so and keep reading all your press clips.  Watch what Josh does to you this year.  What I wish for is Beane get his out of his …, and arm JA with the proper compliment of weapons.  What I would give for us to mortgage whatever and add JJ from the Vikings to DJ.  Now that is a SB team.  Next year, Leonard will probably convince Beane what pieces he needs for his style of defense.  Draft picks are cheap.  Spend $ on another perimeter proven top flight WR.

Yeah, well good luck with that first place schedule this year, boys.

The 2nd place schedule is more difficult than the 1st place.

steelers, Jags and Seahawks.

vs

Ravens, Texans and Rams.

we play the tougher team in all 3 games imo.

Wow. Hadn't looked at that. It's amazing how things fall sometimes.

I disagree about the Broncos they had almost as easy of a schedule as the Pats and the wins they got on good teams were a lot

of luck.

Defenses have a full year of that escape to the right when he's in trouble to study.

I pulled this from Google AI...

Scrambling/Rolling Right: Maye posted a staggering +0.34 EPA per play when fleeing the pocket to the right side of the field. His completion percentage on the run to the right sat at 64.2%, well above the NFL average of 48.5% for out-of-pocket throws.

The reason it felt like a constant bailout is because Maye used this exact movement to torch defenses on late downs (3rd and 4th downs), where he led the entire NFL with a ridiculous +0.41 EPA per play.

When defenses brought extra pressure to force an incomplete pass, Maye relied on a specific signature mechanic: a rip-through move to shrug off edge rushers on the right side, stepping completely clear of the pocket to throw darts downfield or tuck the ball and run. He averaged an incredible 9.2 yards per scramble, using that right-side escape hatch to finish 2nd among quarterbacks in scrambling efficiency.

We'll see how he does when NFL Defenses adjust. That's the next big step for him.

Yeah, I get it, but their defense was special.

That's what playing in a SB will do to you.

With the easiest regular season schedule. And performing the worst in the playoffs of any Super Bowl team I can remember.
