They block out local and nationally televised games. I think last year a lot of the Bills' games were on primetime or nationally televised morning/afternoon games. So if you get Sunday Ticket strictly for the Bills, it can be seen as not worth it.

That’s why I stay on the sidelines. Late in the year they usually do a $50 special. If I ever do it, it’s just for that. The Bills will probably play less than 5 totals games this season that most of us wouldn’t get with national TV games and common OTT services. I have a great Bills bar in San Diego. That brings me down to 3 games or less. I would say maybe do it because I enjoy football so much, but we have Thursday night NFL, Friday and Saturday College, Sunday and Monday NFL. It’s already loaded.

For all these discounts, are you able to DVR the games? I always had heard that you watch it thru YouTube (not YouTube TV) if you get a student or first responder discount.

FWIW, last year my wife convinced me not to get the ticket.  She found this on one of her Chinese websites this app.  I used to use one of my kids student IDs and paid $200 for the ticket.  Now I typically would have 6 different links for the Bills game.  When one craps out, you just switch out during the game to another.  It’s a bit of a shell game, but it worked every single week for the entire season.  I never paid a dime.  I guess the Chinese don’t respect patent laws as she a,so has several websites to find movies, shows, etc.  The problem with those sites are they are only in Chinese, so I have to ask her to find me a particular movie, and she’ll text it to me.  You have to put up with a Chinese advertisements for 17 seconds before your movie starts.  All new movies takes about a week, and then it pops up.  For example, right now Toy Story 5 came out this weekend.  It will be on one of the sites in a week or so.  Last year, Gogo sports was written in English, but also has the icons for each game so you know which link to tap.  I have Roku, so I just run it on my iPad, and attach to my tv,

 

Idont know if this go go sports will work this fall season, but if not, I’ll just have her find another site.  Sometimes, it helps having a wife where Mandarin is her first language.  Shes fluent in English and even Korean.  Come September, feel free to give it a shot, or not.  Just trying to be helpful.

Another thing in common Essex.  No translation needed on the GOGO Sports.  She would need to translate if you want to watch new release movies or tv shows.   Tell her to search Huaren, Olevod , IYF tv, and Bill Bili.  Those search buttons in English only work a small part of the time.  When she searches in Mandarin, she almost always finds what I’m looking for in a new movie, or a TV series like Strike Back based on SkyTV, or Rogue Heroes.  Both are awesome shows.  Strike Back used to be on Cinemax, and Rogue Heroes (the formation of the SAS in WW2).

 

If she has any problem in September, you can DM me.  I’ll give you my cellular, and your wife can talk to mine.  J is always happy to help.

Yes,  I had a student discount last year since I have 2 kids in college. The games get saved to your library.

I have it through YouTube TV. Not worth it at full price since alot of the games are prime time.

I'm torn.

On one hand I'd like the Sunday Ticket to have the ability to see any Bills' game not televised locally, streaming, or cable. Also, it'd be nice to have my choice of any other Sunday game, although admittedly, I don't watch a whole lot of full games other than the Bills on Sunday afternoons. I can't just sit in front of a TV all afternoon, especially on a beautiful autumn day. 

But...even with that discount (I could get it), how many games would I need the NFL ST for? The first half of the season several games will be nationally televised and  I'll be at the Chargers game (which probably won't be shown in Atl). So, maybe I'd need the Sunday ticket for at most 1 or 2 games for the first half of the season.

Same for the second half - though at that point I could probably get the late partial season discount.

 

$200 is affordable, but for only maybe 3 Bills games it's not a good value when I can wait until December, pay small partial season, and see the final 2 games against the Dolphins and Jets if they're not on locally.

The other thing about those last two games against bad opponents is that so many other games will be shown on NYE, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday night, Monday, etc., making the odds much better that at least one of those games may be shown locally in Atlanta.

I really miss the days of Directv when they gave away the NFL free just to retain customers. They'd usually throw in some movie channels to boot.

 

Side note: the other really nice feature with Directv was the ability to set the DVR recording time for kickoff, begin watching an hour into it, skip halftime chatter and all the stupid ads for Young Sheldon, and finish up at approximately the same time that the game ends. With Youtube streaming, that option doesn't exist, as far as I know. If you come in late I believe there's a 'catch-up' highlight thing that Youtube can do where they'll show what they determine to be 'key plays',  but it's not quite the same.
