I told him I was a huge Bills fan and had lived in East Aurora as a kid. He said he had stayed at the Roycroft Inn for Thanksgiving. We exchanged “Go Bills.” Seemed like a good guy. 2 2 Quote

I thought about him the other night with all of the talk about the celebrity Knicks fans and it made me think of the celebrity Bills fans and how missed he is because he was the ideal "celebrity" representation of a Buffalonian and such stark contrast to many of the celebrity Knicks fans. I also thought of him when the Bills first started ascending into a dominant team during the rise of the Josh Allen years and how much he would be enjoying this. We miss ya Russ! 1 Quote

machine gun kelly Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I’m sure many of you guys read his books. The last chapter of the first one was titled, “The Buffalo Bills”. It was such a nice walk down memory lane prior to my time at the Rockpile, etc. Old Coot, and Chandler, can probably add color to those days in the first ward. My dad who is 95 and kicking knew Big Russ quite well from the 1st Ward and South Buffalo. He said he met Tim once at the local watering hole of Big Russ. I can’t remember the name of that gin mill, but my dad knew it. It was so nice him making those prayers during the four SB years saying a prayer at the end of Meet the Press the day of the SB. He was such a class act. That year was significant to me, as my mom passed on my 40th birthday that same year. Tim died first if memory serves. My mom passed on November 28th. It took me 5 years to celebrate my birthday after that event. Now I just remember the good years and how kind and funny was my mom. So to the son of Big Russ, may you rest in peace my friend. Not too long after his passing, i visited Buffalo, NY, and during a tour of the Buffalo History Museum, they had an homage set up with his actual desk, and artifacts to celebrate him.
