CBS: One breakout player for each AFC team

Hmmm. A rookie as the breakout player feels a bit ambitious. 

 

If I had to pick a breakout prospect for the Bills this year it would be Max Hairston without question.

Honestly, i really like Parker, however, i think he's a got a lot to prove and i don't expect much from him as a Rook.........i may be wrong, but i don't see him coming in as an immediate impact player. In a couple of years when he gains more experience and goes through the growing pains perhaps, but i think he's a few years out yet.

I'd go with Bernard --- he's going to thrive in this system.

 

Jimmy will be utilizing more ILB blitzes and moving TB all over.  He's gonna have a huge season (if he can stay healthy).

The D is loaded with talented but unproven players. Any of them could break out. If multiple do the D will be better than excepted.

 

But I’ll go on offense. Kinkaid has never reached his potential. If the guy has his knee right (a decent sized IF) he’s due for a huge season with DJ drawing attention away from the inside.

Can a rookie be a breakout player? Breakout to me is a guy that has already played but steps up his game.

 

With that context, I think Sanders and Hairston have great chances to contribute much more than last year. 

 

I'd also add Kincaid. If he stays healthy he has a chance to put together best TE season in franchise history. Not a high bar but he has the talent and Bills have the scheme for him to really produce a ton of receptions and yards.

i think parker is a great pick as the breakout rookie for the bills -- new scheme, guys around him to learn from and play with, ambitious new HC and DC who are sitting on a top team and have something to prove, and likely a lot of late game situations forcing the other team to pass.

 

as for the breakout player on the bills, and i won't put dj moore on here because if he gets like 1300 yards and a big season he's had it before, i'll pick the player most similar in situation to me as parker -- big Mr Walker.  like parker, he had a great college season making him a top 10-15 projection, followed by a poor last season.  Like parker he fell down in the draft.  Like parker, he's a RAS monster and an imposing physical presence.  we talk about walker like he's the next big thing, but i don't think the nfl paparazzi see it as much.  I think he'll get moved around and be a weapon on a top level nfl d on a top (number 1 seed) afc team.  i think he'll be more consistent, and more importantly be provided more big chances for big plays.

EDGE T.J. Parker

Buffalo traded out of the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, which took some of the buzz away from what they accomplished over the course of the draft. However, their first pick, second-round edge rusher T.J. Parker, shouldn't be overlooked. Buffalo was in the bottom half of the league in total sacks in 2025, so there is a serious need to insert players who have a knack for getting after the quarterback. Sure, veteran Bradley Chubb, who signed a three-year, $52 million contract this offseason, will be the main figure tasked with adding pressure off the edge, but Parker should factor in as well. After all, Parker did have an 11-sack season at Clemson in 2024, which included 19.5 tackles for a loss and six forced fumbles. The talent is there, and if Parker taps into it early in his tenure with Buffalo, it could prove massive for the Bills' hopes of reaching the Super Bowl.

Players have been hyping up Salomon,  and I hear and see Keon making plays.  I’ve heard all about Landon Jackson, and Walker.

 

Have I missed something on TJ?  I haven’t seen or heard anything to make me optimistic.  What are you seeing and hearing that makes you think TJ is gonna make a big jump this season?

Thought he came on late last year. He was in a bad fit. This defense suits him much better. We aren’t talking about him much at all and he has a starting role. He doesn’t have to go far to exceed expectations.

Agree. Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but a rookie having never played a down in the NFL being a "breakout player" seems out of place. If he has a great year and gets a bunch of playing time, there's other phrases that fits a surprise rookie season.

If we're going rookie I'll go with Kaleb Elarms-Orr, especially with Dorian's status being somewhat in question.  Really like the reports I'm hearing from Marino et al on him.

It could be him, honestly. I think fans are a little too down on him. He had nearly 1,000 yards and 8 TDs in two years for the Bills. That is not terrible. If he gets his head screwed on straight, he could be a lot better.
