What's the last great Spielberg movie you personally remember watching? For me it goes all the way back to Minority Report nearly 25 years ago. He's not alone. Robert Zemeckis is mostly clunkers now, and James Cameron became obsessed with making Avatar movies for the rest of his life. I went to a real imax at an Edwards (not fakemax) to watch Top Gun on the 40th anniversary of its release back in May. I watched in 1986 at a theatre as a kid. One minute into it, wife turns to me and whispers, This is one your best ideas 🤣 Check your area for a real imax theatre. The Christopher Nolan movie about that old Greek myth should be worth seeing. His Oppenheimer was notoriously filmed in 70mm imax (inventively), and edited by in person at the real imax theatre at Universal City Walk. He wanted to see it like we see it. Quote

The premise seemed good at first. A guy struggling to make it in the military trying to prove to himself and others... Fights aliens? I enjoy watching sci fi when there are good ones out there. I tried to watch that recent one project hail Mary but I couldn't get through it. I watched men in black a few months ago never liked it particularly much but now appreciate it because the quality of the movie surpasses most anything available now. Quote

Sci-fi nowadays seems to be nothing more than video game quality movies marketed at 12 year old boys with cell phone addictions. Figster Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) Good timing for this movie, I've thought about starting a thread called "1st Encounters Live". A place where people can open up and tell their story as I have here on TBD. A little humor mixed in was to be expected.
