A decent backup, but destined to be nothing more than possibly slightly higher than a vet minimum guy. In 2 years he has 7127 yards and averages 4.2 yards a carry.

It works for the Bills - minimal investment (4th rounder), low contract, decent backup. No trade value. Plus he's an older player (will be 27 in November).

Much ado about nothing. He probably will play out the rookie contract and with Ty Johnson in his last year of contract in '26 the Bills will probably draft a RB somewhere in the 3-5 round in '27. The churn at the position will continue as it should. Beane has exercised good cost control at RB.

agree. He is a solid backup. He will never be a true number 1. If I were him, I’d be content. Just bounce around for 7–8 years on some short 1 or 2-year deals.  Won’t get the same wear and tear on his body either.

I'm glad he has the fire to want to want the ball.  But you also have to understand your place.  If we didn't have Cook, then yeah.  But we have Cook, he's excellent.

Hopefully Ray stays motivated, has a great year to be able to market himself better like its a contract year.  Helps both parties.

I’d love to know these 12 teams.

I don't think he can start on 12 other teams in the NFL

Maybe two or three bad teams but I don't think he'd be able to hold the job because he'd be looking for a better running back a year later

I think he's a solid change of pace guy and he has some upside I don't think he is starting for 12 NFL rosters

The 20th ranked running back is typically around Tony Pollard level right now.. Ashton jeanty

I don't think he's at that level

He’s an older back on a rookie contract who wants to make some decent money in his career. He knows that’s not going to happen in Buffalo. Don’t blame him but Buffalo also isn’t going to trade him for the little value they’d likely get for him so he’s stuck for another year most likely

He also had the 2nd team all pro  last year, so that could be a differentiator whenever he does hit the open market. But I would think he will play this season in the same role as last year for the Bills. Then maybe trade him for a late round pick if we can.

He's a 4th round backup running back. He probably shouldn't be being vocal about touches.

That article was about an article

Wouldn't you want to read the original before having an opinion on something

Or at least read the article about the article.

I dont think there's anything too crazy in either article. Every team wants players who want to start. That's the nature of the beast.

As others pointed out, it is specifically the "here or somewhere else" part that is going to get Davis into hot water with the fans. That was probably Ray being a little too open and honest.

Ideally, the line to the media would be "All I want to do is just have a chance to compete and showcase my true ability, and then I'm happy playing any role the Bills need me to fulfill".

Meh. He's the RB3. And his problem is not just the two guys I mentioned, but he's got a really good pass catching back as the RB2 ahead of him.

I get his perspective too, but that's just bad luck.

That's the nature of the NFL if you are a running back.

I know it was the jets, but he looked dominant in last game of regular season.  Plus he was a dynamic kick returner from about week 6 on.  He went from looking like he was gonna get cut at beginning of season to an explosive runner in a matter of a couple weeks.  Love his mentality of wanting carries.

Right. And from Davis' perspective too, the clock is ticking. Barring the unthinkable (something about a bad injury to Cook), he's unlikely to get his shot with the Bills.

He'd probably make more money if he continues to be an All Pro kick returner than solely as a backup RB. Toss in he has to prove he can be a full time starter before get starting caliber money. I can't see it happening unless a starting RB gets hurt and he's next man up. That said I have a feeling this was one of those slanted stories where the writer was looking for a story and "found it" based on the questions he asked Ray etc. I can't see Ray clamoring for a trade or getting cut to get a chance to start elsewhere.

im well past pretending that players wanting the ball more is supposed to be a negative

I don't blame Ray for having these thoughts..........i believe he brings a lot to the table and would probably be the starter on at least 10-12 teams.

Not sure about that, he seemed to struggle a lot especially early on last year.

Look it up........i'm not doing your work for you.

I'm too busy cluttering up the boards with my nonsense.

One man’s clutter is another man’s entertainment 🤣

Don't be a whiny B word Ray, you have had a lot of opportunities, and unfortunately you are an injury away from being the starting RB.

That is why he wants to go somewhere else. Trade him for a 2027 pick and add a backup RB

Is that in the Bills' best interest? He knows the system and is a decent enough player.

I see a Holdout coming

He literally still is on his rookie contract

That would be a career suicide move

There were six round rookies who had more rushing yards than him last year lol he has no value to hold out realistically

He's a professional you put your head down and grind and put out the best tape and leave in free agency
