Gotta go with Nathan Peterman; how bad was he?  Well, in less than two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Peterman threw three touchdowns with 12 interceptions and had a 32.5 passer rating. Keep in mind that throwing every pass into the ground earns a quarterback a 39.6 rating.😑

Yeah,  he doesn't really belong on the list.  Rob Johnson had no sense of the pass rush,  but when he actually did throw the ball,  he wasn't bad at all.  His passing stats for his Bills career are no worse than respectable.  He was a 60%+ passer,  had a 27-17 TD-INT ratio,  and averaged 7.2 yards per attempt.   The Bills could,  and did,  do a hell of a lot worse during the drought era.

I agree, and that’s coming from a major RJ hater back in the day. I was an active participator in the RJ vs Flutie flame wars at the time, and I was one of the many a-holes on the Flutie side. (Not interested in reopening the debate, RJ backers - and you know who you are.)

I still broadly stand by my takes from back then (but not the vitriol they were delivered with), which is to say that I still maintain that RJ sucked. But he did legitimately make plays sometimes, and did legitimately win games sometimes. He would’ve been a good backup if he wasn’t such a walking injury. It’s fair to put him in a conversation for worst ROI or even most damaging, but not worst overall. Not even CLOSE.

As for worst overall, I voted Peterman and agree with Kirby’s Krusade that Peterman is the correct answer. I do think the BJH counterargument is intriguing, but honestly? If he was named the starter like Peterman was, he would’ve studied the playbook and paid attention in meetings and whatnot. And - more importantly - he was still better in-game than Peterman, despite neither studying the playbook nor getting first-team reps in practice. That’s really damning for Peterman.

I think it’s fair to say that BJH should be more embarrassed by his Bills’ performance and career, and also fair to say that BJH should be ashamed and Peterman should not be. But I think the poll question boils down to. “Whose performance in real NFL games was the worst?” And if that’s the question, the answer is Peterman.

From a playing stand point, no one has worse stats than Nathan Pickerman.

Worse than that - Kolb ended his career slipping on a mat.  Leinart and Brohm being 1st and 2nd round picks never even being able to compete for playing time was pretty bad too.

Still Nathan was the worst QB on the field.

Most damaging to the franchise:  Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards are in a close battle...they gave just enough delusion and false hope to keep us in pergatory instead of aggressive in the QB market.  It was plain as day, every game they played, they were not the guy.  But the desperation let people see slightly less crappy play as hope, and that sunk us into a sink hole of winning just enough games to not get a good draft pick and losing just enough games to still suck and miss the playoffs.

I love Fitz - the person though.

Peterman for memory. But out of that list the pick 6 by Jeff Tuel against the Chiefs a few yards out of the EZ was rough and probably the worst individual play from any of those QBs.

The fact that Peterman has only just retired from playing is mindblowing, he’ll be the best agent in the league if he’s learnt from the guy who somehow found him work for the last 8 years

Damn 8 years?  It’s like that futz at work who screws everything he touches and you got to fix it everytime; however when layoffs came, you needed someone like that as a buffer.  Nathan must’ve been a good locker room guy, saying funny things to players and coaches; just a fun guy to keep around

I vote for EJ MANUEL because of what he cost the Team. The only QB taken in the 1st Round that year. Thankfully the Bills traded down! He washed out of the league in 6 years. Peterman was a 5th round pick. What did you honestly expect? Can't blame him McD was an idiot.

was just thinking about him. to this day I believe flutie with that team wins us a ring.pssst....was a forward pass

I think in the context of what was expected, what he provided, and what happened....RJ is the *worst* Bills quarterback by a country mile.

Most of these other guys were career backups or QB3s...or leading very mediocre teams that no one in the NFL expected to do much. (EJ).
