RobbRiddick Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Yeah, if you’re going by play it’s Peterman. If you’re talking relative to draft position it has to be EJ Quote

Edwards looked as though he might bring promise until he got his eggs scrambled (I think by the Cards) and never attempted a pass of more than 4 yards again. … Hope he’s happy n healthy now but he got his bell rung big time in that game. 1 Quote

As a result, he had a VERY short tenure. Peterman was chosen to start and had an epically & historically bad statistical performance & by eye he was pretty dang poor too. He somehow managed to stick around for awhile (& somewhat surprisingly managed to stick around in the league for several years). I voted for Peterman. Yup. Had to come into a game and played excruciatingly terrible. As I recall he made a bunch of mistakes and was just running around like he knew nothing. Went on a show on Empire Network (IIRC) and admitted he didn’t read the playbook or study for the game after a loss. Todd Collin’s was injured and he came in to replace him - 17/30 for 133 yards and 2 int’s. Doesn’t sound horrible, but he played terrible that day. Traded a 3rd round pick to then Raiders for him that offseason. Bills released him the next day after his admission. He gets the award as worst Bills QB because he was unprepared as a professional quarterback and admitted why on TV! At least Peterman tried! He just wasn’t a good starting QB. 1 Quote

By that point in the game the Bills offense had 18 yards and we were trailing 40-0 on the scoreboard. Still unbelievable that McD actually chose to start the guy when we had other healthy QBs on the roster. Multiple times. Just part of the process. 2 Quote
eball Posted June 8 Posted June 8 9 hours ago, Kirby Jackson said: Is it worst player or furthest from good based on assets used? Peterman is by miles the worst QB. He was, at least at one point, statistically the worst QB in NFL history!! It wasn’t like, “he wasn’t very good.” At one point, he was the worst QB to ever play. You could make the argument that Losman or EJ was more damaging because of resources but as a player it’s Peterman by 100 miles. This is correct. “Least capable” was the question. Losman and EJ both had a lot of talent. EJ was absolutely ruined by the coaching. 2 1 Quote

His best games ever were his first two. He only got worse. If we are not only discussing QBs, I must respectfully disagree. The 2006 draft was loaded with good players at positions of need for the Bills. Levy said that he rejected multiple offers to trade down. Instead, he drafted Lil Donte Whitner at #8. Donte wouldn't have been a bad pick as third or fourth round selection, but to draft him at #8 was the definition of stupidity, and the hallmark of the Levy/Jauron era. Quote

BuffaloRebound Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Peterman, then EJ ‘deer in headligjts’ Manuel, then Losman. Edwards was decent until he got hit one too many times. Rob Johnson was a bad match for Buffalo especially going against Flutie but was semi capable. Peterman was for such a short time and would’ve been irrelevant if not for the magnitude of how bad he was. Quote

We had some real doozies who somehow found their way into a game. I remember they picked the worst year to try and find a franchise qb you had Buddy Nix out there in interviews with everyone saying it was a horrible qb class swearing there was 1 guy they thought could and would be great. I think I wanted Geno Smith that year I really liked him at West Virginia. Edited June 8 by Whkfc Quote
Homey D. Clown Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Bruce Mathison. You have to really look further than the past 30 years to count him though. If limited to 30 years, it's a no contest EJ manuel. Others may have played worse, slightly, but he cost the franchise far more because of where he was picked, and the nothing burger the team got either on the field or in a trade. (See Justin Fields). My vote was for Billy Joe Hobert who openly admitted he didn't know the playbook and proceeded to get cut the next day. But there are a lot of good choices. It has to be BJH Quote
SF Bills Fan Posted June 8 Posted June 8 This thread really makes you think about how terrible the organization was top to bottom for so many years. There was nothing to be excited about and no salvation in sight. It was ineptitude defined. Ralph was barely hanging on. Littman was running things and was more interested in the bottom line. It seemed like there was no other pathway other than the Bills leaving town. Bills fans kept showing up, though. Then, it all turned around. Makes you really appreciate this great period we are in. We deserved Josh Allen and we earned the pile of Ws and the shiny new stadium. 1 Quote

Not a bad topic to discuss but needs some refinement. Perhaps limit it to Bills QBs with a minimum number of starts. Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted June 8 Posted June 8 For me, I’ll combine the entire Bruce Mathison/Joe Dufek era as one big ball of suck. I covered the team at the time for a media outlet and those were some really terrible times behind center Quote

THe Bills have had a few QB's that have had good talent but when they get here the coaching was sub par & then Ralph sometimes didn't help matters by firing coaches quickly & a constant change of coaching schemes for a young QB doesn't help them develop in any way & hurts EJ for sure IMHO ... GerstAusGosheim Posted June 8 Posted June 8 It's Billy Joe but not entirely based on talent. Not being prepared is totally unacceptable. Quote

Xerx Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Nathan Peterman, he arguably owns the single worst NFL game ever by a QB Ask non-Bills fans and this is the only answer you are getting and it's not taking long to get there Historically atrocious Quote
