Captain_Quint Posted June 3 Posted June 3 If he even can make the roster, maybe he and Walker in the middle for field goal blocking attempts. But highly likely he is just camp fodder, and nothing else. Let's not turn this into a Christian Wade situation. Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Asking because I'm too lazy to look it up. Has any international player roster designee ever played in a NFL game on any team? If so has anyone of significance made it to the league via this route? Quote

Jordan Mailaita the Eagles LT but he’s the only one I can think of that has been really good. We had the DE here a bit back who was serviceable that we got from the Panthers. Can’t recall his name rn. He’s out of free PS eligibility correct? So he’d have to take up one of our s risk spots on PS this year I believe Quote
BillsFanForever19 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Not a great sign that they spent 2 full seasons teaching him NFL Football as an Offensive Tackle and are now trying him elsewhere. Good news is he's Practice Squad exempt, so as long as he's willing to keep working there and they're willing to keep putting in the work on him, he can stay and not effect much. But I don't see them giving him longer than next Training Camp to show them something at DT - if he's that lucky. Quote

Clayton has just been a science experiment that we will forget about as soon as he no longer gets the free space on the PS (which I think is this year). Have you ever heard the story of when Mike Leach wanted to put a little person in the backfield for short yardage plays? Basically his idea was, you’d hand him the ball and then guys would pick him up and throw him across the line of scrimmage. 😂😂 It’s kind of genius. Drafting a little person to execute this strategy (which apparently isn’t even legal) would have been a better use of a pick than Clayton. Hard disagree, even though I expect Clayton to be out of the league once his international eligibility runs out. Jordan Mailota has proved that it’s *possible* for these freakish athletes with no experience to succeed in the NFL. Still very unlikely, but absolutely worth a long shot in the late 7th or as UDFA. In Clayton’s case, my worthless armchair analysis is that 1) I don’t think last year’s coaching staff did him many favors - again, why did it take so long to try him at various positions? He has no muscle memories to unlearn; you might as well see how he looks on either side of the ball. And more importantly 2) While Clayton has freakish NFL-level athleticism, he probably doesn’t also have freakish NFL-level motivation, and without that the athleticism just isn’t enough. Quote

He was the first pick of the 7th. I would have been fine signing his as an UDFA. I don’t believe that DRAFTING a guy with ZERO games of experience is a good use of an asset. If you want to bring in a guy like that or Christian Wade or Chris Manhertz, sure. You should be drafting guys that have played football before. Edited June 3 by Kirby Jackson 1 1 Quote

Cuz he has no natural position and realistically playing offensive tackle was his best shot They gave him 2 years of development there the fact he's getting switched shows the writing is on the wall... This is a move that shows his football career is failing It's a last ditch effort to see if he could go to D line but it's not even going to last realistically He's six foot seven with no football skill.. he literally can't play anything besides the offensive line or defensive line and they obviously made the decision to try him on the o line for 2 years A guy like that needs two years to see what would even happen. Not putting him at a different position for 10 weeks at a time he's going to get no development You have to give a raw guy like that 2 years to try to take up something.. one off season at offensive line and one off season at defensive line would have done nothing but stunted his growth You have to give somebody like that multiple off seasons to focus on one thing Edited June 3 by Buffalo716 1 Quote

Now that he counts for an actual spot, he’s the easiest cut of the 90 guys there. 1 Quote

machine gun kelly Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Does it really matter? He’s a one in 500 chance to make the ls if not an international player. I like th idea, and maybe a couple in the league make it. For those that don’t, they make six figures for one to two years. Good for them. They get the nfl experience up close. Quote

Also the first imaginary player selected in the NHL draft. Imlach was quite the card at times. Though he was not in the International Pathways Program (I don't think it existed back then), Christian Okoye never played American football before starring with the Chiefs. Quote
