Groot right now doesn't have that value. Then you offer multiple first round picks. There is other compensation that could have been offered Quote
Process Posted June 1 Posted June 1 So in the 2026 off-season the Rams traded for McDuffie, traded for Garret, and still had a pick in the first round of the draft (which they lit on fire). Seems impossible. 1 Quote

Younger, cheaper, and a cornerstone for any defense. Not sure this moves the needle enough to warrant the cost. i don't quite agree, but there is a fair amount of space, including with injury, where verse has a better season next year than garrett. it's very linear tho, they are paying a first, plus whatever else, and the cost difference (which is enormous) to upgrade from very good (verse) to the best (garrett). that's exactly what they did with goff and stafford. Ayjent Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Compiling an all-star team rarely works in the NFL. Good for the Rams for taking their shot, but that season could easily go off the rails for many reasons, mainly Stafford. 1 1 Quote

It would have been a lot. 2 Quote

Plenty of good, but not enough elite. 1 2 2 2 Quote

When there's a will there's a way but Beane is just way too cautious about giving up draft picks which is frustrating because he isn't a great drafting GM to begin with. 1 2 1 Quote

stlbills13 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 At least we avoided the Rams like tear down Beane mentioned 3 1 1 Quote

What could we have offered to match Verse, a 1st, plus picks? Do they want Rousseau? Getting Verse back is really solid for them. Would we have to go above and beyond given we’re in conference? But at the end of the day, I get it .. Going for it would be getting both Moore and Brown, not just Moore. We light money on fire with Palmer type signings anyway, so why not. 2 Quote

Plus, our one would have been less than the Browns, and then there's that "other compensation". I would have given up Groot as well, but I don't think that would have gotten it done. Quote

BuffaloRebound Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Verse has 3 years left on his rookie deal. He’s probably worth two 1st rounders himself. Groot is maybe worth a late 2nd at $20m+ per year. It would’ve taken at least three 1st’s to equal what the rams gave up and he’s headed out of the conference. So probably three 1sts plus Groot to compete with rams offer. Quote
Big Blitz Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Garrett had a final say. Probably THE say. If you want to win a Super Bowl you don’t stay in the AFC. The Bills never had a chance getting him. When Beane has the NFC equivalent to this player available he should be swinging. 2 2 1 Quote
