1. Sky Bell - I am not saying the he is gonna be the #2 guy, but he comes in contributes and shows flashes of what might be

2. Cole Bishop - Takes the next step. I think he comes in and cements himself as the leader of the secondary, this year I think he starts making those around him better

3. D. Walker - I think he begins to dominate and show consistency in his 2nd year as a pro. He has the tools and intangibles I feel like in his 2nd year he stops thinking and starts reacting on instinct.

HM - O' Cyrus Torrence -  Contract year... plays like a demon...

Bishop will cement it .

Walker will have a dominate year with the rest of the defense !

Hoping that Hawes continues the upswing and Brady etc make good use of him in the pass game.

To me, “dark horse” means an unexpected rise to prominence

Agreed.

Lots of non dark horses listed in this thread.

1-  KEO-  I would’ve been happy drafting him in rd 3.  I really like his downhill style thumping nature and ability to cause havoc in the backfield.  Add his sideline to sideline speed and NFL coaching, I think he can become an effective all around player in the future.

2-Kyle Allen-  this guy would be a starter for a lot of teams.  In high school that is.  Can’t stand this guy as a QB and I hope he gets cut.  Just wanted to throw that out there. 😉

3- Josh Palmer-  seems to be public enemy #1 due to his salary and people want him cut.  I can understand that sentiment.  I’m just a fan of his route running and physical skills.  It think he’s one of the best WR4-5 in the league and has a good chance to be our WR2 IF he and Josh can get on the same page.  Allen and Kincaid were on different wavelengths in 2024 but were much more NSYNC (sorry, had to) in 2025.  If Josh and Josh can do the same, I think he can really help us out and make some big plays.

Honorable mention-

every DL that could be considered a dark horse.  I’m optimistic that the scheme change will help these guys improve.

I think having Dee Alford in the slot will be a welcome addition.  Finally having speed in the slot makes me happy.  Loved prime Taron, but he was kind of bland the last few years.

DeWayne Carter in his third attempt at a season not only makes the team but has meaningful reps in rotation with Deone Walker.

Kaleb Elarms-Orr will start before the end of the season.

For those mentioning Coleman, let me ask:  What have you seen in this kid that suggests he'll ever be more than a JAG in this league?

His speed?  His ability to separate?  His exquisite route running?  His hands?  His work ethic?

Maybe I'm missing something - and I hope I am - but the only thing that stands out to me is his draft status - being our top pick in 2024.

I agree with you 100% and I'm tired of reading about this flop!

Hondo, I think that Coleman has the ability to be a Gabe Davis type of WR if he reaches his potential.. Will he be a Pro Bowler??? Most likely not, but I could see the guy as an okay boundary WR opposite of DJ Moore..

I see him as a 50 catch kind of WR potentially and I could live with that.. I did not want the Bills to draft him, I wanted BTJ and Xavier Worthy mainly, but what is done, is done.. Maybe I'm being too hopeful..

3.) Terrel Bernard: I think he surprises some people as far as what he can do on the field.. He will be the QB of our Defense.. He will not be an elite player, but he won't be a liability either.. He will consistently be in the right place at the right time time because of his intelligence and because of his awareness..

Honorable mentions:  Skyler Bell, Javon Solomon, C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

You may be right about Kincaid, I'll give you that, but I don't see anybody banging the Keon Coleman or Terrel Bernard drum..

I agree about Bernard.

He's been one of my favorite whipping boys but based on things that have been said by those in the organization, I believe he will thrive in the new system.

Leon Hard coached under Dave Aranda at Wisconsin and Aranda was later Bernard's coach at Baylor.

If Bernard stays healthy he'll be an impact player... which would be counter to the expectations of most here.

This is the key. People tend to forget that his first year as a starter Bernard was actually pretty darn good. He didn't look healthy very often last year, but if that's behind him I think he goes back to being an impact player that chips in a splash play here and there.

1.) Dalton Kincaid: I think this is the year that he is finally able to stay healthy and produce throughout the entirety of the year.. I'm thinking he catches 60 passes minimum and he has his best year as a pro.. (If he stays healthy I think 70-80 catches is definitely possible for Kincaid..)

2.) Keon Coleman: I'm not saying that he will be a Pro Bowler, but I do think that he will prove that he is not a BUST and he has a place in the NFL and I do think that he be a quality weapon opposite of DJ Moore.. I see Keon as a 48-55 catch receiver.. He will not be Josh's first option, but he will likely be a quality WR4 behind Moore, Kincaid and Shakir......

Did you say "dark horse"?  No disrespect, but I think your definition of "dark horse" might be a little off here :nana:

I mean, I am not sure 2 of the Bills best starters the past 3 years and a WR that the FO and Staff are pounding the drums for as much improved and having a big role in 2026 count as Dark Horse candidates.  All 3 are expected to have and play big roles in 2026 right now.

Your Honorable mentions you can say are more of a dark horse list, although CJ is also expected to be a starter this season too.

A dark horse would be someone with low expectations of impact surprising and rising to a bigger role or impact this year.  Skyler Bell is a good example, on paper he looks to be WR5 right now (DJ, Keon, Shakir, Palmer, Bell) in a offense that still has a deep TE room too plus Cook, Davis, and Allen running the ball.  He It does not look like Bell has a lot of targets penciled in this year with so many mouths to feed both passing and running.  So he qualifies as a guy who could be a dark horse to surpass expectations and see more targets than it may appear are headed his way this year today.

Outside of Sky Bell, these guys are not dark horses.  Bishop is already one of our best players on defense and Walker made an impact as a rookie.  Dark horse is someone unexpectedly playing well and a bigger role.  You just named 3 of our best young players and 1 rookie.

Yup E-Orr could be a good addition,

Jaylon Kilgore. Won’t start because of
Gardner-Johnson but will get time! We will be come the new starter and we will have a safety duo to rival any in the NFL for the next ten years.
