BillsPride12 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Inspired by @Thrivefourfive's thread, let's flip it upside down As another poster in that thread mentioned once Married With Children added the character Seven that was the beginning of the end Similar feel to Oliver being added to the Brady Bunch(as if there wasn't already enough damn kids on that show!) 1 Quote
Another Fan Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Heather O'Rourke (may she RIP, tragic how she died) character on Happy Days as Fonzie's now step daughter I mean that was beyond shark jumping and awful at that point Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I was never comfortable with Steve Buscemi in Sopranos. For me, it just didn’t fit in to a show that ran on way lesser known, first time, and local actors. He had history with the show having directed episodes in earlier seasons. Should’ve left it there. 2 3 Quote
US Egg Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) All the replacement characters on MASH. Each was a far cry, humorously speaking, from those they replaced. After Frank Burns left, the show ran on reputation rather than comedic creativity from that point on. Leather Tuscadero and the so out of place ‘Mork from Ork’ on Happy Days. No surprise the show inspired the term “jump the shark”. Edited May 23 by US Egg 3 Quote

ChevyVanMiller Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Andy on Family Ties. All the writers could come up with was to, once per episode, have the kid deliver a line way beyond his years, and then have one of the family members carry him off screen. 1 2 Quote
rockpile Posted May 27 Posted May 27 John Boy Walton was MIA in WW II Europe. He returned with a different actor as John Boy. Quote

Gregg Posted May 27 Posted May 27 How about when they switched Darrin's on Bewitched going from Dick York to Dick Sargent. 2 Quote

Every fourth guy from 1930-1999 were “Dick”. Nobody realizes after say 1931 that this was ridiculous (no offense to our ***** on the board). The two Darrins. The sister/daughter on Roseanne, the weird thing they did after Suzanne Somers flipped out on Three’s Company. I was a huge fan of Mr. Roper so can’t put him in this thread. 2 Quote

In my opinion, that was when Happy Days jumped the shark... long before Fonzie actually jumped the shark. Quote
