Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 McDermott would have only sat him for 1.5 seasons, had he been a defensive player. Cerebral defense, dontcha know. 2 7 1 1 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Lots of folks take AP calculus. But we already knew he was smart because his Wonderlic was released years ago and he talks well, if often in a grew-up-on-a-farm 'aw shucks' kind of way. 1 Quote
eball Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Not a surprise to anyone who has watched Josh speak and interact over the years. Tremendously smart, and a high level of emotional intelligence to boot. 3 5 3 2 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Taking AP calculus in high school is not really an indication of supreme intelligence. This is often a product of upbringing and opportunity. THere are lots of other things that demonstrate he is infact quite intelligent. 2 1 1 Quote

Well 15 to 20 percent of high school students take it. https://maa.org/math-values/the-decline-in-high-school-calculus/ Still shows to me he’s pretty bright from an academic point of view. 3 Quote
Artful Dodger Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Not too many people know that he went to Harvard. Oh, wait. That's the other guy. 12 3 Quote

So minimally he's in the 80th percentile for math... that's smarter than me for sure. 1 1 Quote
MJS Posted May 20 Posted May 20 It was always understood that he is smart. He scored very high on the wonderlic and always comes across as quick witted and intelligent. He is a goof ball, but still smart. 2 2 Quote

Of course, he's in the top .0001% of how far he can throw a football. 2 1 Quote

I would guess that a very small percentage of pro football players took AP Calculus in high school. Shoot, the majority seem to have barely done any school work and gotten pushed through. Seems like as good a proxy for smarts as any. Do you think Skattebo took AP Calculus? 1 1 1 Quote

Tuco Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) This explains a lot. I always wondered how Josh was so good at extending the play. Now I see it. "HIKE" Okay, 7-step drop, Khalil has the high safety over him . . . ohhh crap, they disguised that front 7 and here comes an unblocked linebacker. What am I gonna do? Wait, there is a way out . . . negative B plus and minus the square root of B squared minus 4AC over 2A. . . . of course, fake the linebacker out of his jock and roll out right. Ha Ha Ha Ha ha! Look at all these psych major dropout linemen trying to catch me. Now just use a little sine-cosign trig here along with the Pythagorean theorem equals Knox is open down the sideline. Touchdown! I get what you're saying, but there are also a lot of kids with that opportunity and access who dont/cant take AP Calc because they just arent smart enough. 1 Quote
