Flashback the 00s! Now WGR will go back to HATING the Bills and not talking about them at all.

Did WGR lose the Sabres too?

Yes, after the season is over.

I don't love that Sal off the sideline.

I didn’t really love him on the sideline. Where does that leave him?

I thought it was both when it happened... now I am questioning myself

I don't think 97 Rock did a great job the last time they had it but it is what it is

The broadcast is going to be controlled totally by the Bills.  97 rock is just the vehicle.

The Bills owning the show makes a big difference. They're responsible for all aspects of it and let 97 Rock be the vehicle. It makes sense for both sides. Sal got a bit big for his britches and stepped his stride too long with his takes. I like him, he's got great takes but he could not balance being a fan of the team and a representative of the team. They contradicted each other. Most importantly Sal was a fan of the fan - he loves all Bills fans. Sometimes he would bite himself in the butt to make the listener happy. Other times he would bite the listener to make the team happy.

Sal Capaccio

@SalSports

For the last 12 years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to be the sideline reporter on the Buffalo Bills Radio Network via WGR/Audacy. As many of you know, there will be a change. While I won’t be serving in that role moving forward, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity I’ve had over those years to cover this team from such a unique perspective on game day. To everyone in the Bills organization, and my radio colleagues - I’ll miss being with you on the field and in the booth, but thankful for the long-lasting friendships and relationships we’ve built. To you, Bills fans and listeners everywhere - I can’t thank you all enough for the love, support, and trust you always place in me. It’s never something I take for granted, and it will continue to motivate me moving forward! With that said, I’m excited to keep doing what I love and where I love doing it - covering the Buffalo Bills every day on WGR, and continuing to bring you the news, insight, and stories surrounding the team, alongside an amazing team at WGR and Audacy! I’ll still be at every game, home and away, and can’t wait to see and talk to so many of you once again this season! Thank you for the love.

Sal works for WGR.  Once the Bills broke the relationship with WGR, Sal was going to be out as long as he worked for them.  It's that simple.

Exactly.  People have been making this into a way bigger deal than it ever was.  Crazy to me how so many people thought Sal was also losing his job from WGR as well.  I'm sure it stings for him a bit but in the grand scheme of things he's still in pretty good shape.

This is what we need more of in our world today - looking at the positives!  I’m the kind of guy who always sees the glass as half full.  With poison.

Was not a fan of when 97 Rock had the Bills previously. Thought the pre/post game shows were a bit lacking.

Be interesting having WGR 550 and 97 Rock with pre/post game.  With the current state of the Bills and Josh, should be fine. Will be more interesting in lean years…

The problem with 97 rock last time is that the Bills felt like an afterthought, rather than the main program.

In today's world, what can a local station's pre-game show talk about that hasn't already been said all week long.

There is no real news or insight that the national news hasn't already have.

Local stuff would be better off just talking about the fans and experience.

I think it's better for some of us.  I don't listen to the Bills radio broadcast.  Being out of town I just watch the TV broadcast.  I do, however, listen to some WGR segments during the week on Youtube.  Now we'll get the real Sal opinions and takes,,, not the "Bills radio network" opinions.

The last 30 minutes of pregame stuff from the stadium leading up to kickoff is ok. Really don’t need 4 hours of interns talking their takes and arguing with each other.

Postgame just get the player and coach interviews and that’s it. No one needs to hear what Ed from Schenectady wants to say.
