HIT BY SPIKES Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) I love this Bills schedule!!! A Monday night game on Canadian Thanksgiving. A evening game on American Thanksgiving. A game on Christmas Day. AND the Super Bowl is on Valentine's Day. That is THE perfect schedule for a dysfunctional family. I am naming this Bills Schedule -- PRELUDE TO A DIVORCE. Do you think the team is excited about this? "Hey, Josh, great news -- you'll be the marquee game for Christmas. That's right, you're gonna miss your kid's first Christmas. National television, though, am I right? Haha, go get 'em, tiger!" Many people work on Christmas for far less pay. I think Josh will be ok. Also, holiday games are dumb. 4 Quote

SydneyBillsFan Posted May 15 Posted May 15 What are the chances the opener at Houston is Nantz & Romo? I ask this because ESPN Australia typically broadcasts all CBS headline games. Quote

I’d say that is the most attractive game for CBS week one so yeah, there’s a good chance you’ll see it down under. 1 Quote
Aireskoi Posted May 15 Posted May 15 The preseason opener will be a good chance to scout future Buffalo Bills and see the new stadium. 1 Quote

I'd rather they get both holiday games versus playing an international game. Quote
buffblue Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Every year people say the schedule is difficult. When you win double digit games 7 years running that's what you should expect. I don't think the schedule is nearly as bad as people are making it out to be - the beginning is tough but as long as the Bills don't start like 1-4 they should be in solid position for the playoffs at minimum. And while I know the 2nd place slate could be "harder" than New England's, the level of competition is going to be a massive step up for the Pats this season whereas it will be par for the course for Buffalo. 2 Quote

I think it stinks more for some football fans. Let people enjoy the holiday, and spend time with family away from distractions for at least one day. Speak for yourself. A three-and-a-half hour excuse to ignore my in-laws on Christmas day? That's GOLD! Thank you NFL! 1 4 2 Quote
Richard Noggin Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Thanksgiving at home really simplifies (and disrupts) plans for that holiday in a way I can't be blamed for. Usually we travel and convene near Detroit. Twice we've played there on Turkey Day and the fam has attended. (Got to see Barry Sanders in his PRIME at the Silver Dome.) But this year we are obviously staying home (season tickets). Christmas on the road also improves that day's plans and grants us/me a pass to get together with my peeps on an otherwise more precious family day. Need to see the aggregate team rest differentials to know for sure if I'm irate or okay tbh. But personally I'm okay. Quote
Brand J Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Ticket prices are outrageous. The Lions were the most expensive ticket in the NFL, with their lowest tickets going for $400+, but the Bills will take over that crown of having the most expensive ticket in the league. At least for the inaugural year of the new stadium. Quote

Ok, fine. If you’re a legitimate Super Bowl contender that sort of schedule shouldn’t scare you. I understand Houston has been described as a house of horrors by some Bills fans in recent years, but the losses in the Allen Era have been by one score. This is not an expected loss, given how Houston’s offense looked at the end of last season. The Bills are currently 1.5-point favorites in this game. I’m reading comments from fans thinking the Bills will lose to Detroit in the home opener. Excuse me? They will be favored by at least five points and they are undefeated against Campbell’s Lions — and the crowd will be insane for the opening of new Highmark. That game begins a 3-game homestand in the new barn. We’re afraid of the Chargers? Really? And will any team be more motivated than Buffalo when the Cheating Vrabels visit in W4? I’m pretty much expecting 4-0 before we go to LA for MNF. Let’s call than an L, although it could certainly go either way. Raiders — W. Ravens in Buffalo — W. At Vikings with either Kyler Murray or JJ McCarthy at QB? Another W. Jets and Fish in successive weeks and I’ve got the Bills at 9-1 going into Thanksgiving night vs. the Chefs. We always beat them in the regular season. Then we visit the CVs again. That’s 11-1 headed to Green Bay. I’ll say the Bills will lose one of the next three (@GB, Chicago, @Denver) but they then finish with the Fish and Jets. I really don’t think I’m smoking anything to reasonably believe they could go 15-2. Too many fans are stuck in the McDermott way of thinking — i.e., what scares me about the opponent. I’m embracing the Brady thinking — those teams need to be worried about us. This is a fantastic schedule with lots of primetime opportunities to show the world, once again, that the Bills are an elite, championship-worthy team. Go Bills! 2 4 3 Quote
DapperCam Posted May 15 Posted May 15 This seems like a particularly difficult schedule to me. At HOU is a tough draw for us. It’s the same defense that put us through hell last season. 1 Quote

BigAl2526 Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Even more important than the schedule is the way the defensive personnel in particular adjusts to the change in scheme and a compete new coaching staff. There is an offensive adjustment too. I expect some tweaks to the offense with Carmichael's input, but nothing like what the defense is going to experience. It would have been nice if Buffalo had a couple easy games early, but they really only have a couple of what I would call easy opponents outside of their division (Jets and Dolphins). Quote

You can see that he's gotten to where he's good at this sort of stuff. His "acting" was probably the best of the group. For better or worse it looks like he's gonna give Peyton Manning a run for his money. Second of all, the ending gave me a really good laugh. 2 Quote

LittleSimonWithAGodComplex Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I don’t hate this schedule at all. Houston away is always a nightmare because of their Defence, so rather get it out of the way early when we have the option to travel there early and acclimatise if necessary. The Texans often start the season badly and grow into it, so I’d rather be up against Hunter and co in week one when they’re still cold, I see us running the ball down their throats all night. Next up 3 home games with the chance to put the pats in their place early on, what’s not to like? 1 Quote
