For all the pissing and moaning people love to do about Beane, he’s one of the best at player retention and contracts in the league.  He always gets guys to come back at fair deals to them and the team that quickly establish themselves as bargains and steals.

Cook deal was about as good as it gets.  Elite player at a discount.

Also nice to see the RB position revived from a comp standpoint.  These guys have some of the shorter careers with the punishment they take while still being incredible players to their teams.  Was a shame to see top guys being so under paid for a while there and now nice to see teams rewarding talented players who have fewer chances at paydays later in their careers compared to most.

One of the best dual threat RBs. Can only think of a handful of guys better in that role:

CMC/Bijan/Gibbs/Saquon/Cook

Definitely a needed retention for Miami.

Good for him, he’s going to earn that money with about a thousand carries though as he’ll be Miami’s entire offence

McDaniels use of him was criminal. Achane would be running wild and all the sudden he doesn’t get the ball for 2 quarters. Love him as a player. Hate that he’s on a rival. But they absolutely should make him the offense.

The Giants letting Saquon walk, and him subsequently almost winning MVP in Philly, was the best thing to happen to RBs. The pendulum had shifted too far as to “how easily they are replaced.” The Bills wisely got on this early and secured a great deal with Cook.

Like the Jets, the Fins are never gonna get it.  It sucks NE has figured it out.  But once they pay Maye, there wont be a AJ Brown and Doubbs type offseason either.

I may be in the minority but NE doesn’t scare me (at all). They are like .500ish to me and Maye is a middle of the league QB. Playoff Maye is closer to the guy I think he will be than 1st half of 2025 Maye. I dont think that they’ll be bad again but I think that they’re a team that perennially is in the WC hunt.

The Jets are the team, to me, in 2 or 3 years that could be the threat. They will have to nail the QB and HC next offseason. They will have the ammo to do it assuming Woody doesn’t screw it up.

If Glenn gets fired during the season then I could see them promoting Frank Reich to interim HC.

If he could stay healthy, he'd probably be the best back in football.

I hope with the new DC, we won't let him catch 14 screen passes for 11 yards a clip every time we play Miami.
