hondo in seattle Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Interesting comparison. I think: Lofton is much better than DJ Moore Reed is easily better than Shakir Beebe is better than either S. Bell or Palmer 2026 TEs are better, though. 4 6 Quote

I agree Reed is better but Shakir is a very similar archetype & skill set. Bell has chance to change this a little but we'll see 1 Quote

Today's group is easily the best they've had. 4 2 Quote

Freddie's Dead Posted May 10 Posted May 10 No contest. The 90's WR's are way better than the guys we have now. 2 HOF'ers, should be 3 with Tasker. McKellar could block and catch with equal ease, but the comparisons are more even with Dawesome and Reuben. 2 1 2 Quote
Amaru523 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 There's only, maybe 2 other Bills WR's that are even in the same universe as Andre Reed. The gap between him and Shakir is...........well it's huge, and Shakir is one of my favorite Bills. 3 1 5 1 2 Quote

This group is nothing like that group. 2 HOF WR on that 90's roster. Comparing Shakir in any form to Andre Reed is an insult 3 3 6 Quote

Victory Formation Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I wouldn’t go that far, I think we have an average WR group, but there is potential for us to be better than that.. Our TE group is above average though, so I think that levels everything out.. 1 Quote

Although a healthy Kincaid makes it closer First off.. i defend my pukes... to think our current WR core is anywhere near the caliber of what the 90 WR's were is a complete joke. you deserved the people laughing at you and the 2 pukes. Its not even close. is Kincaid better then the TE's of the 90's yes.. last year.. 39 receptions for 571 yards and 5 touchdowns over 12 games But lets not make light of the work of what these 2 did in the 90's Keith McKeller (#84): Played 16 games, recording 36 receptions for 424 yards (11.8 avg) and 4 touchdowns. Pete Metzelaars (#88): Played 16 games, recording 30 receptions for 312 yards (10.4 avg) and 3 touchdowns. and those 2 were not thrown to as much because of the fantastic WR crew we had. so Kincaid gets the edge at TE.. but WR's? come on man...... Looking at the time of post, maybe a better question is how was your Saturday night and how are you feeling today? 3 Quote
Maine-iac Posted May 10 Posted May 10 How many games was Andre Reed lined up as a slot WR? Reed and Lofton were both bigger than DJ Moore and better. Not just for one season but for whole careers. Maybe Moore will come here and add to his career which is pretty good (but not Reed or Lofton good). Add 4 or 5 more years of top level production to Moore's career and maybe you could mention him with Reed or Lofton. You can't compare Reed and Shakir. Shakir is a product of another era. There were a few Run n shoot teams but Beebe was the closest thing to a slot WR we had then. I also certainly wouldn't compare a WR who hasn't even taken an NFL snap to any of them and I love Bell as a prospect. If you were around back then you would also realize it was also Brooks for a while after Lofton. Who was pretty good as a Colt but never as good as Lofton. My first memories of the Bills are from the late 80's and it was their defense bringing them to the edge of making the SB. Kelly and Reed were tough SOB's and the offense was gritty before it was good. Lofton and Thomas coming in and emerging was the SB era. 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) In what universe are we comparing 2 HOF receivers and a HOF RB that was a huge weapon in the pass game with literally ANYONE we have on the team right now?? Perhaps only in The Twilight Zone? https://youtu.be/NzlG28B-R8Y?si=P6_m8iMxX2KV6FGB Edited May 10 by Big Turk 1 1 Quote

Come on lol Not sure if this is directed at me as I think I was the first to laugh, but this is a ridiculous comparison. Lofton even at that age was a better receiver than Moore for that day and age and was a perfect outside receiver for any offense. Reed and Shakir is not even a contest - Reed is a HOFer and Shakir is a volume receiver near the LOS. Reed is by far the best receiver Lofton would be the 2nd best receiver then a chasm and Moore. Beebe, Tasker, Shakir all sit way further down with Palmer just a bit below that tier. Coleman, Bell, Edwards, etc. are all nothing at this point. They are/were filler guys. Heck - the 90’s receivers may be better than these receivers today and Lofton is probably 70. I just don’t think it is even a close comparison. 2 1 Quote
