DrDawkinstein Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Ah man, RIP. Big presence here in Atlanta over the years. I'll always respect his hatred for Rupert Murdoch, challenging him to fist fights multiple times, and blocking him from buying the Dodgers. 3 Quote

RIP , Ted. As soon as saw, uh, in the title I knew you had heard him give a speech. He spoke at my graduation as well and that's all that I remember. Edited May 6 by jayg 1 Quote

Augie Posted May 6 Posted May 6 RIP I lived in Hilton Head after college in the early 80’s, and the Braves were always available to us, and everyone, thanks to TBS. I went from zero interest in baseball to a bit of a Braves fan because they were always on anywhere you went. It was cutting edge back then. I read a story about how he made it a big ordeal to get from Atlanta to the beach. They told him they could fly him from his office and be there in no time. He responded that then he wouldn’t feel like he really got away. He saw things his own way. Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Superstation WTBS was great get when first added to our cable system. Thats when the Braves had all their games on and had some great pitchers. RIP Ted Quote
May Day 10 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 What a media giant. Back in the day, TBS was everything, (along with espn). Braves baseball, bugs bunny, Tom and Jerry, the munsters, leave it to beaver, Andy Griffith, bewitched, saved by the bell, Gilligans island. Channel would change real quick for house on the prairie or when gone with the wind was on for 4 hours. All those shows imprinting on me sometimes makes me feel like chip Douglas from cable guy. And turner also changed pro wrestling. It was probably inevitable, but created 24 hour cable news. 1 1 Quote
