Love this system and we need to make sure we sew seeds to make this happen every couple years. A 3rd for trading up is a good value. I'm not so sure... Around 15–20% of third‑round picks become solid multi‑year starters or better. About 25–40% become at least part‑time starters or significant rotational players at some point. Roughly 60–70% end up as backups, special teamers, or wash out fairly quickly (high “bust” rate). perthirtysix.com/essay/nfl-draft-expected-value-curve I'd rather have a good personnel guy who helps us build a strong roster than, for example, a backup linebacker. 1 Quote

Got 2 Billieve Posted Wednesday at 04:14 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:14 PM I'll take the third round pick. That can even be used as leverage to get back into second round perhaps. Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted Wednesday at 04:17 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:17 PM I think that the timing is interesting. We joke about the quality of the 2027 draft compared to 2026. Both @gonzo1105 and @GunnerBill talked about how a 3rd in 2027 might look like a 2nd in 2026. We would be adding a quality pick in 2027 and 2028. You also may be getting a 4th or 5th for Edwards. You picked up the Raiders 7th too if I recall. That’s good ammo in a great draft. 2 1 Quote

But, I do know that two 3rd round picks in the coming drafts are sizeable assets. I wish this incredible man who has done the best job ever for Buffalo with nothing but pure class and professionalism nothing but the best as he moves forward with Minnesota. One hell of a job he's done here. Heard he was the main driver behind drafting Josh Allen. TG is a stud! 2 1 Quote

They say day 3 of the draft is led by the scouts more than anyone else. The Bills have been as good, or better, than anyone on day 3. It's day 1-2 that are really the issue in terms of finding blue-chip talent. We seem to find good-very good (but not "elite") starters routinely on day 3. 18 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said: I think that the timing is interesting. For sure. The scouts have more say on day 3 than on day 1. Obviously they’ve built the board but early in the draft Beane really calls the shots. You may be able to go up to get the WR in 2027. You’d have an extra 3rd and maybe 5th or something like that. There are some star WRs. You won’t be able to get Jeremiah Smith but there are other future #1’s in 2027. You could move to the middle of round 1. Edited Wednesday at 07:21 PM by Kirby Jackson 2 Quote

Don’t think you’ll have to make a huge jump for a top flight WR next year even at 32. Obviously Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman will most likely hog the spotlight but there are a bunch of other guys next year who can turn into an NFL # 1 WR. Other guys who I think have a strong chance to go round 1 are: Ryan Williams Alabama (not a huge fan but has a year to change my mind) Nick Marsh Indiana. 6’3 215. Stats won’t jump off the screen but he was at Mich State the last two years and now is at Indiana where he’ll have Josh Hoover throwing him the ball and Charlie Becker opposite him Charlie Becker Indiana 6’4 210- # 3 WR last year but with Sarratt and Cooper gone will be thrust into a huge role this year TJ Moore Clemson 6’3 200- Has all the tools to be a breakout WR this year if Clemson can get consistent QB and OC play calling. Bryant Wesco Clemson 6’2 185- See above about Clemson Ryan Wingo Texas 6’2 215- had 850 yards last season and hopefully will have a more consistent Arch this year Mike Matthews Tennessee 6’1 200- Dock two rounds for being a TN WR haha Braylon Staley Tennessee 6’1 190 - See above Then you just have some big athletic freaks Nyck Harbor South Carolina 6’5 235 Ian Strong Cal 6’3 210 KJ Duff Rutgers 6’6 225 Duce Robinson Florida State 6’6 222 Nic Anderson LSU 6’4 210 Reed Harris Arizona State 6’5 217 Isaiah Horton Texas A&M 6’4 210 Now I’m not saying that all of these guys in the first group are going to be first round but this list shows you how many body type freaks there will be in next years draft at WR. Some of these guys will go back to school and this list doesn’t even include the normal sized explosive WRs in next years draft like Mario Craver. I just wanted to highlight the potential huge WRs in next years draft that will be found throughout in all rounds Edited Wednesday at 06:11 PM by gonzo1105 2 2 2 Quote

BillyJoeBills Posted Wednesday at 09:11 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:11 PM It would be great to get 3rd rd comps, but we’ll see if the Vikings are open to hiring an outsider: As of early May 2026, Rob Brzezinski, the team's long-time executive vice president of football operations and interim GM, is considered the overwhelming favorite to become the permanent Minnesota Vikings General Manager.
