Also - imagine this: "Max Hairston out for year as his weight spotter Tre White dropped the 250lb bar on his chest.. by...accident". I'm sure they don't just let anyone come in and workout. Tre or not. You are on the team in the facility or not. Tre is not. Quote

White on vet minimum would be okay as the 4th or 5th DB. Probably depends on if IGB can play some slot. If not then there is really no more room for a boundary CB. If IGB can back up the slot then it opens another spot for a boundary CB on the final 53. Bosa would be intriguing as a pass rush specialist. Probably would take him or Von back for a veteran presence with Chubb. Im not convinced Oliver can play DE so having additional options at DE would be reasonable. Milano is a sad story. Great player for a brief time. He's been a liability for years now. Hope he retires as a Bill soon. If the roster size is unlimited, then ... yes. But unfortunately when you sign a guy, you have to drop one. Bosa/Von, for example, as you said, can be a pass rush specialist. Roster spot wise, either one is not going to replace Chubb, Rousseau, or Parker. Is he going to push one of Solomon and Hoecht off the roster? Solomon is on every single special team unit as a key member, and might be on the verge of needing reps now as OLB. White may have a better shot with Dorian Strong's health issue - if he ever steps onto the field again. Still, White is not going to replace Benford, Hairston, or IGB. Toriano Pride Jr., our 7th round, is an interesting case. The guy fits the new CB profile Leonhard prefers, like very athletics. Can play Nickel and was a special team player in college. If he's not completely stiff in camp, I think he stays. Quote

If I had to take a pass rush specialist, I’d go with Von. Von can do it still. Tre, ok if the 4th on the boundary so a guy who can mentor guys like IGB and Hairston. Milano was my absolute favorite for years, but he’s pretty much washed up and should enjoy retirement. Besides, he lived like a monk most of his career. 1 Quote

You will be surprised at how people balance health and money. Strong is not Hyde who has made a lot of money, and not likely comes from a rich family. Strong made $857K as a rookie (including the signing bonuses) and is scheduled to make $1 million this year. Neither nor combined is "set-for-life" money nowadays. I think he'll do everything possible to keep playing even if he knows it carries sizable risk. I think it will be the Bills to tell him "no you are not playing." His contract is not guaranteed by the way. At this point, I think it is debatable Tre is the 4th on the boundary if he makes the team. It won't shock me either way. From the Bills perspective, it would be nice we have a 2025 Poyer situation all over again: on the practice squad to be a mentor. If injury or someone really falters, then we have a someone to be elevated. 1 Quote
The Jokeman Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I mean Tre was a McDermott guy. I mean he could come back but have a feeling he wouldn't want to. 1 Quote

Given I’ve worked in medicine for 25 years, I don’t wish that tragedy on anyone. It’s not really a great life if your stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. If his Neurologists can predict he is as safe as anyone else on the field, great. But if not, no amt. of money is worth risking lifetime health. 1 Quote
Sestak4ever Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I thought Trey had his best season post knee injury. He was a huge reason we beat Jacksonville in the playoffs. It takes a couple years coming off that knee injury and it appeared to me he was getting back, even if he lost a step. He is a smart player and reads qb’s and wr’s very well. 2 Quote
Kelly No huddle Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Beane did say they were hopeful for strong returning but it was still in the healing phase. Drafting pride and how he looks in mini camp will also effect this Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Tre White had a good season for the Bills last year. It looked like he had finally healed enough from his injuries to be fully back. I'd like him to be on the team. 3 1 Quote

Mike Catalana of Buffalo Plus and WHAM ABC in Rochester said yesterday on the Buffalo Plus Podcast that Tre is actually working out at the bills facility everyday with the team even though he is a free agent. There must be a reason they have not signed the papers yet. Maybe they are waiting until after the rookie minicamp and everything is sorted out. If he doesn’t sign, he doesn’t need to report to camps….. also…aren’t they close to the camp contract limit? Edited May 8 by djp14150 Quote

And there's many more people that understand moving on from certain players bc we have new coaches and a new scheme on that side of the ball. But then many of those same people be like "but... but.... why aren't we bringing back Tre? 🥺" Quote

I think Tre esp at this stage of his career is more of a zone corner and he was pretty good after a rough start last season. But I think he just isn’t likely to fit the new scheme. That being said I do wish the Bills even after drafting two corners would bring in a vet corner for depth competition Quote
Don Otreply Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Nope, not surprised at all, I think that they consider Tre as to old, to slow, and injury prone, jmo. 1 Quote
Art in PNS Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I may be wrong but I believe being a vested Vet if he signs for 1 year before the first game his entire salary is guaranteed but if he signs any time after the first game he is a game rental guy and if it gets cut there is no dead money. So i think he is a break glass in case of Guy Quote
