I think we'll see something like 13-4, 12-5.

However, I would actually like to see what this team looks like on defense before settling on a number.  Because if their defense is substantially better at taking the ball away and limiting points, and the offense is still capable of putting up 30+ per game, I reserve the right to change my outlook.

If Allen is healthy, I believe him alone gives you a baseline of 10 wins.  So, it's the other things on the team that will account for the additional wins.  Those that have followed my takes and breakdowns on here for years know I have been very critical of McDermott's outdated scheme.  For years now I have been saying that his defense is built for the regular season and playing a bunch of average QBs.  It was good enough to win games against the average teams with average QBs, but was ultimately going to fail in the Playoffs against QBs that knew what they were doing and had more talent around them.  And sure enough, that led to giving up 33 points on average in elimination games.

I expect this defense is going to look a lot different.  If I am right, they are going to play with a lot of shifts and movements in order to create chaos.  I think it is going to be an attacking scheme that forces the offense to react to what they are doing and not a sit back, wait and see what the offense is doing and then trying to take that away.  This defense isn't going to play with that type of patience.  They are going to play with urgency and aggression instead and while I think they may give up the explosive plays once in a while, I think we are going to see more sacks and turnovers as well.  And when you have the best QB in the world in Allen on the other side of the ball, and you maybe give him an extra couple of possessions per game, well, it's going to be hard for opposing offenses to keep up.

So, being the first year in a new defense, there might be some growing pains as we find out which positions are going to need upgrading in the new scheme, I will account for a couple of weird losses.  But, if we see them play, and everyone does seem to fit, the sky and the potential record is as high as you want to make it.  I think we will know fairly quickly, too.

I have a similar opinion as it’s early to set a projection.  History suggests 11-13 wins as the last several years.  It’s true the wildcard is the defense.  Now that we've traded and drafted DJ Moore and Skyler Bell, I’m less worried about the receiving core.

The defense should look very different and it’s just a matter of did we fill the gaps of what is needed in a Leonard defense.

KC won’t likely even have Mahomes back yet, and their OL still sucks.  Easy win especially at home.

I can’t see us losing 2 in a row at home against Det and Balt.  I actually think we will go undefeated at home this year.

So there is 3 more wins.

Road - we will beat GB but I will flip the Houston to a L as our offense has been shutdown hard the last 2 games against that defense.

So I have us 14-3, 1 seed, and SB Champs

The league won't schedule the Chiefs and Bills until late in the year when Mahomes is back. Allen + Mahomes = ratings gold. The league wants Allen vs Mahomes.

Hope springs eternal in the off season … the offense should be fine but I think the defense will definitely have growing pains through the first half of the season. I’ll go 10-6. Flame away you eternal optimists. 🤪

This is exactly where I'm at

You mean either 11-6 or 10-7.

We go 20-0 if Pinto Ron switches to dijon mustard on gamedays

I think Pinto Ron got one of the troughs from Highmark Stadium. Maybe that will be the key.

We will see, certainly possible, but they don't really know when Mahomes will be back.  He could miss the whole first half of the year, especially if KC is losing consistently while he is out, less reason to rush Mahomes back.

0-17, Bills get the #1 pick in the 2027 draft and Beane trades it to the Rams for their 4th and 5th round picks in each of their next three drafts.

Beane will trade Josh Allen to Rams for Ty Simpson, 3 future 1st round draft picks, 3 future 2nd round picks; Rams will trade Stafford to Falcons to reunite w his Georgia college roots for one first rounder and 2 second rounders.   Josh and Hailey will have a Hollywood ending and the Bills will tank the season and trade up w their draft capital and high draft slot to pick Arch Manning and Jeremiah Smith in 2027.   Stafford will play into his 40's after Arthur Blank makes him the richest QB in NFL history.  Ty Simpson will be the 4th Simpson to don a Bills Jersey after Ko Simpson, Bill Simpson and OJ Simpson; people should know Beane doesnt do cocaine in his office, he watches The Simpsons.

i think it was sooner who said 13 or 14 wins.  i think that's right, although i have a feeling we get to 15 wins (and opt out of the week 18 game).

we've alternated 13 and 11 wins since 2020, except in 2025 we managed 12 instead of 11 wins.

in 2020 we had 13, but finished wayyyy above EPA of less than 11 games.  since then we've been within like .25 of 12 wins every in terms of epa, and on even years finished 1 above, and on odd years finished 1 below.  our performance has been like nearly exactly the same for 6 straight seasons.  it is remarkable.

this is the first year anything has actually changed.  we've changed up OC, DC, ST, and all kinds of assistants, brought in and let go veteran pass rushers every season, totally rebuild the OL, totally rebuilt the RB room, WR room went from elite to cheeks (and hurt!), and TE room went from knox to 3 deep.  similar w top corners drafted and signed, etc etc.  all of that kept us in nearly exactly the same place.  now we actually made big changes in coaching, and i think combined w the crop from last season went a different direction wrt defensive players too.

it says here that gets us over the hump.

One thing McDermott never achieved was the number one seed in the AFC (and the first round bye that comes with it).

That is a very worthy goal for 2026 and I absolutely believe it's within reach.
