Even the most confident get up there and then suddenly realize it’s a bit intimidating on that first throw. It’s a long way away and you’re standing on a mound where you also step down to a degree on the throw compared to just throwing on flat ground elsewhere. Still funny though they should really tell these people they are throwing before they get to the stadium oh wait I’ll say this ones like the wonderlic - it doesn’t mean he’s a bum but it sure did show us who didn’t have common sense to prepare for 5 mins 1 Quote

JohnnyCash Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Not accusing anyone in particular, but I really believe some go up on the mound and intentionally throw a ridiculously horrible pitch in order to garner attention. Quote

While I was never a superstar athlete, I understand that throwing a baseball and football involves a difference in mechanics and technique. However, unless Malik Willis has never attempted to throw a baseball once in his life, he is a professional athlete! He is in the top 0.2% of athletes in his sport and probably a top 5% athlete overall. To miss by that much is simply embarrassing! Here's to the Fish! I look forward to our secondary out receiving his wide receivers! You would have expected him to practice pitching a few times before that game. Clearly he has arm strength, it would just be a matter of adjusting to a baseball for one single pitch. Especially when he knew there would be a lot of eyes on him. It is the basic of any public event - preparation. Quote
chris heff Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I don’t understand why the Dolphins signed Willis. His contract is for $67.5mm for three years, with $45mm guaranteed. They then proceeded to trade away any talent they had. If you’re going through a complete rebuild, have cap problems, wouldn’t a cheaper option have been better? The fact that he can’t throw a baseball 60’6” is funny, but he is probably a decent NFL backup QB. Didn’t Willis also say something stupid after he was drafted? Like football isn’t all that important? Quote

That scene at the end where Pacino tries to convince Reeves to have a baby with his half sister was hilarious. “What should I call you, Satan?” I have so many names, call me dad. 19 hours ago, dayman said: Not meant to be political, just noting the throw…check out George Bush Good old GW. This is possible... I would say if you are the newly signed QB of a football team that has been failing for decades and eating 100m in salary of their last failed QB... Ima go if that is what it is, thats a poor choice LOL... Quote

I can't imagine 4-5 wins versus 2-3 wins is worth 45M in guarantees, but then again they locked up big money into a injury prone middling QB who they now pay to not be on roster.. so this move makes sense from that perspective... I had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a minor league baseball game 15 years ago. I decided before I got out there that I wasn’t going to try to throw it full power and end up embarrassing myself like so many others have done. I think I pulled it off pretty well, and I was in a tuxedo no less. That was majestic 1 Quote
