Essentially they made a decision to stop wasting their talent and looking for others to blame, and decided they would play the system being asked of them and bust their ass at the little details.

At the same time Kevyn Adams got fired, and while he built the team, the players had little confidence he was going to get them to where they needed to go.

Essentially once he got fired and replaced by a "real GM" in Jarmo Kekalainen and he brought in highly respected Assistant GMs in Flynn and Bergevin, the players knew the Sabres actually were done accepting being a laughingstock and were ready to be a real NHL team.

That’s a great explanation, Turk! I’ve been trying to find a way to put it into words and you did so perfectly. At the same time, I think Lindy has evolved as a coach and realized with this young team he couldn’t just be a hard-a$$ and needed to show them some love along the way.

Whatever the case, they are as good as anyone left if the goaltending holds up.

Yes, that part is true too I believe. Apparently there was a story overheard by someone during the time the 05-06 team was being honored and they were shooting the sh!t with the current players where they were told that Ruff was being so negative and was really getting after Owen Power about his play in a film session and Tage Thompson stood up and went off on Ruff and said they were sick and tired of his negativity and always being so down on them constantly.

The room went pin drop quiet for a while and nobody said anything but the players secretly loved it and Ruff actually took it to heart, didn't try and defend his behavior, met with the players leadership group later that day and asked for help changing and their help working with him.

The meeting went well, the leadership group met with the other players and told them this is how it's going to be from now on, everyone was on board and then as they kept winning, their confidence in themselves and in doing what Ruff was asking them to do kept growing and it became almost a self-fulfilling prophecy at that point.

How much of that it true? Nobody will know, but that was the report out there.

I also think that Kevin Adams was notorious for trading players before the deadline just to do something.  Once Adams was gone, the players just relaxed, and decided this team is good enough to win...so let's do it!

This same guy told me back in 2021 that my wife would leave me within 5 years if I didn’t change my ways. I’ve had 6 affairs since then and she’s still here

According to your wife (she really is a nice woman), the guy told you that on Christmas Eve, so the bill may yet come due.

'Cause, like, math and stuff.

Thats wild if true!!  Just wild.  I give TT a lot of credit to do that, IF he did.  Surely explains a bit however, doesn't it??

I have my bookie on hold.  Is it 2027 Super Bowl or 2027 season?

Never, ever ever overlook the technicalities of a psychic prediction- it's dangerous! They will win it IN 2027 the Year of our Lord.   (2026 season).

C'mon, where the fun in that? That's like saying I'll believe in Jesus if he walks across my pool to hand me a Mai Tai.

I agree.

It seems there are alot of doubting Thomas's on this board

All joking aside, I think this is going to be a historic level offense by the bills this year. I just hope they don't run out of gas at the last second like the 2007 pats.

This offense is going to set records this year imo

With all due respect - I'm pretty sure you feel this way every single year. We could have done nothing this off-season and I feel like you'd be saying the same thing 😂

You're probably right lol

I do think this is the best collection of skill talent & continuity on offense since before the 21 season.

Here’s a weird thought. If the Sabres miraculously won the Stanley Cup, would that take pressure off the Bills winning a Super Bowl?  I think in a small way it would.  The “Buffalo Curse” would be gone!
