After the infrastructure improvements around the stadium are complete we will host the draft. Currently with no hotels in the vicinity and not many restaurant options it doesn’t look very appealing to the league. There are plans to bring hotels and restaurants to the area. Everything will be centered around where the giant dirt pile currently sits. More realistically it’ll come 2030

Let's hope not.  The NFL draft is just about the most overrated event in sports.

And it never really helps local businesses.  Small businesses in Pittsburgh complained that business was way down as a result of the draft which didn't draw tourists to their establishments while keeping the locals away due to traffic and crowd concerns.

While I agree Nashville would probably be cool, most of the time the draft feels like the sports equivalent to standing outside Times Square on New Year's Eve.

No thanks

As someone who has been to two drafts (one willingly, one I got dragged to) I am 100% in agreement with you. It's incredibly overrated, and that's coming from someone who is passionate about college football. I need to be in my man cave with multiple TVs going, multiple monitors, food, drinks at my fingertips, etc. Don't worry, the draft will come to Buffalo, and as a WNY native there's no way you will get me to go lol

Yeah the draft feels like the ideal watch on TV at home event but the least desirable thing I would want to attend live.  I have absolutely zero interest in ever making a road trip out of attending one out of town.  I could probably have my arm twisted into attending it if it comes to Buffalo but I am much more excited about the idea of another Winter Classic returning to the new stadium than the NFL draft.

I think that Buffalo building the new stadium out in the suburbs again, makes a great college game, tailgating atmosphere. But they lost the opportunities for things like the NFL draft or hosting a Super Bowl when they didn’t go for a downtown dome within walking  distance of the convention center, hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.

Walking distance to convention center, hotel, restaurants and bars?  LOL.

The Bills were NEVER going to host a suprerbowl, you are delusional if you think they would have given an overpriced downtown domed stadium.  WNY doesn't even have the ability to park all the private jets that fly in for the superbow,

Now they MIGHT have a shot at the draft, that is realistic and our consultation prize for the new stadium..

They never had the opportunity to host a Super Bowl. The city doesn’t have the minimum hotel requirements (for 1). They weren’t eligible to be considered even if they built an indoor stadium downtown.

I think it will come to Buffalo eventually. The NFL likes to try and reward teams for making new stadiums. The Bills probably won't get a Super Bowl given they don't have the city wide infrastructure and the weather risk. The draft isn't something that I imagine takes a ton of infrastructure and the weather risk in mid-Spring is a lot lower.

There is no chance its coming to Buffalo, they can't trust the weather.  This is the trade off for having no roof.  You dont get SB's, the Draft, or any other year round events.

It went to Green Bay and is going to Minnesota.... is the weather that much worse in Buffalo?

In April for the draft ? No

It's rainy and not warm for the most part but not blizzards

But it goes from rain to sun to cloudy to rainy to sunny a lot

It was in Cleveland and Pittsburgh as well. Those climates are very similar, especially Cleveland.

I expect the Bills to get a draft at some point. It’ll probably be on the outer harbor.

Buffalo will never, would never and could never have gotten a Super Bowl though. There are lots of reasons for that but the simplest is that the city doesn’t meet the requirements in terms of lodging (and it’s not close) or transportation. They could have built the best indoor stadium in the world and they still wouldn’t have been eligible for consideration.

It's not about the owner or the team. It's about hotel rooms and infrastructure. Two of the largest corporations in the world are headquartered in Cincinnati (P&G and Kroger). There is also Cintas and Chiquita, as well as 5/3 Bank and a few national insurance companies. That means that even though it's a small(ish) city, there are a lot of high-end hotel rooms downtown. There are also a TON of lower-priced hotels and motels on both sides of the river, because it is a common stop-off point for people on I75 going between Florida and Canada. The airport is also much bigger. In WNY, OTOH, it's hard to get a room for a Bills home game unless you book it months in advance.

Was a massive success in little Green Bay.   If they can do it with a suburban location, why can't WNY?  Just sayin'

Buffalo absolutely needs to host the Draft if for nothing more than to keep Beane from trading down out of the First Round thereby sending a couple hundred thousand fans into a total meltdown on live television.

What in the hell are you even talking about? They can't trust the weather in late April? Just stop with these clown takes. A roof has absolutely nothing to do with the draft. There will be one in Buffalo, it's a certainty (not that I care however).

I think it will, but I think they would want it at the new stadium... and currently I am not certain there are ANY hotels in OP... that would be a concern... at that point they would need to go down town... but where?

Slide ‘em in the old Adams Mark downtown … I’m sure the homeless and drug addicts who currently reside there won’t mind 🤪
