My take on the run defense is to attack on offense. Score early and often. Last year the Bills had a negative point differential in the 1st half. That’s impossible and a HORRIBLE strategy. The Bills plan was to keep it close, make adjustments, and get them in the 2nd half. What does that mean? Teams can run the ball well into the 2nd half.

The solve for the run defense is the lead. Play from ahead. Make teams become one dimensional. If they get down 2 scores in the first half and have to “keep up” with Josh Allen, there is no run defense. Someone posted it a while back but the 2007 Patriots saw the fewest rush attempts against in the league. Their elite offense put pressure on opposing offenses. They became one dimensional. That’s the answer for the Bills. Score fast and score often.

AND that was why the lack of a deep threat WR realllyyy hurt last years. The Bills offense by ATL had become a bit predictable and even though they did evolve, they did not have the personnel to force teams to respect the idea of shot downfield. If Moore just does what he has it will help so much the offense to be pick your poison. IF Palmer is actually healthy for most of the year mixed with Moore the offense could realllyy become dictate on any level in a way we haven't seen since 20/21.

I wish they'd bring back the Jim Schwartz Defense !! No matter where that guy has went he's had a good D .

I wonder if he was a consideration at the coordinator position for Brady ??

If Leonard has been paying attention over the years maybe he will implement some of those types of line ups from time to time just to keep the opposition on their toes .

i wonder if we are going to see 4 corners on the field at the same time.

I could see a 5 1 5, where bishop or maybe cj are the only non corners in the backfield, with alford, max, benford, and igb filling in the rest of the spots.

given we have edge players who can play run and pass rush a bit, i think the corners (especially the nickel who was a linebacker way too often before) will be less critical in the run game.

Rex Ryan's defenses when he had an elite S and an elite LB were incredible. But he needed all star level talent at those spots to run his system.

His schemes were so complicated that it was tough for many players to follow. Tons of "if this happens, then do this, except if this happens, then do that."

But if you could grasp it and execute it was a thing of beauty. If you couldn't then guys were out of position all over the place and it looked ugly.
